My fiancee and I are due to get married in April and I'm starting to wonder if my bad credit (attributed from my ex-husband) will screw up my soon to be husbands good credit once we get married. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you

Your poor credit will only affect any joint accounts. You'll pay higher interest. But your poor credit history won't merge with his good history.

Everyone has their own credit score. Your credit will not screw up your husband's credit. Your score may have a negative effect upon a purchase(like a house) that the two of you may want to make together. Also, if you have a joint account in the future and then continue on the same path you have been on, it will negatively effect him as well.

It shouldn't if you are careful.......Where you can run into problems is if your husband co-signs a new loan or credit card account for you and you fall behind/default....His credit would be trashed too....So remember, with any co-signed/joint financial obligation like a mortgage, credit card or loan.....the effects of a default will spill over into both you and your husband's credit files.

As long as you don't put him on them as an authorized user it shouldn't do anything.
