Yep. Been in different ones with generous person who got me lots of stuff, a broke person who didn't get me much, and a generous person who is selectively gift giving. If the person doesn't buy you anything at all I wonder if he or she makes as much as you think. If s/he does then they may be a selfish person or a person who doesn't give many presents. You need to make your needs known without being greedy.

It depends on what type of relationship we are in. If we are just friends sure, but if we are bf/gf then no. I want to be with someone who is giving like I'm giving, and he doesn't neccessarily have to give in a monetary way.

yes. who says that they need to buy you things? buy your own stuff. why are people so materialistic? my b/f has money but i don't ask him to buy me anything. i don't need anything from him except him. yeah sure i love it when he buys me jewelry but i don't NEED it. he's all i need. i love him...not his money.
