I just got a ticket for speeding and i was just wondering is it possible to fight a ticket based on vehicle discrimination? What happened was I was following a f150 truck on the local tollway and he was in the fast lane and i was in the middle lane and i was a good car length behind. As we are coming to the tollbooth the officer radars us and pulls only me over. I am driving a 01 firebird formula .. a sports car and he didnt even atempt to pull over the f150. I understand i was speeding but just becuase i was driving a nicer car doesnt mean i should be the only one to get a ticket

Im not trying to brag about the car im just pointing out that it was a sports car vs a older truck.. and to the people about the whole fishing thing yes you cant catch them all but if you knew you where going to catch 1 fish outta 2 would you rather catch a perch or a bass?

Absolutely no such thing as vehicle discrimination, nice try though. The police have what is called discretion, they can ticket whom ever they want! Prosecutors have the same authority!

It's called selective prosecution, and it is often based on profiling of one type or another. If an 80 year old granny comes out of church and drops her pill bottle, and a cop sees shes carrying three different types of pills in her bottle for the day, he is going to help her pick it up and help her to the car. If a ratty dressed guy in the seedy section of town has the SAME bottle, he will be arrested for having medication not in the original bottle. Yes, it probably was discrimination or profiling based on the type of car you drive. Yes, it is wrong. But, sadly, this is what our country has become.
We have become so politically correct that we can't call things what they are. The granny at church and the man on the seedy side of town should be treated the same. But they wouldn't be, and any police officer that says they would is just not being honest.
I believe selective prosecution is profiling and discrimination and therefore violates our civil rights. But they do it every day and get by with it, because no one wants to fight the "system".

Well. vehicle discrimination is certainly an angle I have never heard of before; but that argument will not hold up in court. If you know you were speeding just pay the fine.

The law is not based on what the other guy did or didn't do. The only thing that is going to matter in this case is that you were speeding.
Your court date will be given that is convenient for the police officer who pulled you over. Your best bet to have it dismissed is to file for a continuance two weeks before your court date. When the court date is extended, it will likely not be as convenient for the police officer, and 90% chance he won't show up and your case will be dismissed.
Now for the reprimand: I hope being pulled over taught you a lesson about speeding. Now, slow down and drive safely! It's not just your life that depends on it.

The fact that someone else was speeding makes no difference.
You may have been "profiled" but not in a way that will be effective in fighting the ticket.

Your car is not anything to brag about. You were speeding and you deserve a ticket, and I'm sure the car had nothing to do with it.
