If religious power led to a perfect society then Afghanistan under the Taliban would have been a paradise rather than a failed state that managed to scrape by on heroin money.
Not everyone separates religion from politics. Bhutan actually bases its constitution in Buddhism. Iran is basically a Muslim country. Their results vary. I personally think Bhutan is a better example since they're managing to do okay without the crutch and corrupting influence of huge oil deposits, which has too much to do with what's keeping Iran going.
It's just another way to organize a state.

Because NOT everyone believes what you do and hence that is why they must be separated. How can you expect a nation such as China or Japan to follow your Christian ways and laws? or Jews and Muslims?
THAT is why is must stay separated.
We all live under the law of man and if you believe then you also live under Gods law also. I am Pagan and live under man's law for it is the only law. My God's don't make laws.
It's really arrogant to believe that all follow your beliefs. I am glad you do not run the Nation!
I am not saying that the Religion of a Nation cannot have influence within politics but not so overwhelming and total.

Because people killed each other in droves in the past over imposing their narrow view. Your religious law is not my religious law, and so there are basic human laws and rights, and then you do whatever the heck you want beyond that on your own. Religious leaders (gasp) can be as corrupt as political ones, not to mention political leaders yapping about religion... look at our government!!!

Religion is not separate from politics...remember the Axis of Evil comment that Busch relied on so strongly...or that fact that men, women and children are offing themselves daily for the sake of a jihad...this is centered in the two things that have always held sway in the human realm...money and power or more importantly politics and religion

Just blunders and slip-ups with human errors created back in the past with the misery being expose in time after the mystery of us-911.
Luke 9.60
Ever wonder if God wanted to create living human kind into mankind of intelligent design to be the Son of God.
Would God create it in the church in a selected group?
Or create it in masses in all mission schools without anyone being aware of it?
In the creation of peace on earth goodwill to men vital for the survival and advancement of living human kind?
Ever wonder why our creator's universal constituition and universal laws were vital for ruling and leading in guiding the survival and advancement of living human kind?
Leviticus 4. 13, 22
Leviticus 24.22
What do you think?

It depends in which country you live. In England the Church of England is the established church; bishops sit in the house of Lords; the Queen appoints Bishops and when we changed the arrangements in our parish it had to be approved by the Privy Council.
The bishops normally speak when there are issues that have ethical implications. They were active in the campaign to legalise homosexual acts between consenting adults, opposed raising the age up to which a fetus could be aborted and spoke against teh assisted dying bill. They generally do not speak on budget issues.

We don't share the same beliefs religiously. If you live in a FREE country you are supposed to be able to think, believe, and live as you wish so long as you aren't infringing on other's rights. That is what made the U.S. great not being overrun by close minded fundamentalists. The day you take that away the "great experiment" our founding fathers envisioned will have officially failed.

Hey close-minded poster. Ever heard of the First Amendment.
Also you mean gods laws as follows
Leviticus 25:4
Exodus 21:7
Lev. 15:19-24
Exodus 35:2
Lev. 11:10
Lev. 21:2
Lev. 19:19
Exodus 21:7. 7
And there are plenty of other in the bible; so what YOU are saying is that these passages in the bible are acceptable over the laws of man?

If you think that religion is separated from politics, you haven't heard the Republicans campaign for President of the US of A. That's the Protestant Christian religion.
Tune in & you can witness another theocracy being made.
Let's see, in Israel Judaism if the law of the land.
And, in Iran, Saudi Arabia & others, it's Islam.
Where are you from & if you want religion to be part of politics, why don't you simply move to your where your brand of God "reigns" supreme?
