I'm only quoting this to point out that you don't need to go as far out as galaxies to wonder about God's preferences in creation. Why on earth ARE there so many species of beetle, each species having so many members? Could it possibly be that the universe has evolved and that species have evolved to fill evolutionary niches, so that what survives is what has a place among all the other survivors and the environment?

Well, personally I cannot understand why anyone would disagree with that idea, but hey, there are huge numbers of people on here who don't seem to find science worth exploring in order to understand it better, so I guess I'm just a weirdo.
