Protestants deny Peters authority because they interpret the passages in Scripture differently. Of course, they don't have the Apostolic tradition or authority to interpret Scripture given to the Catholic Church by this same Peter from Jesus Himself. Simply read the accounts or writings of any of the Apostolic Fathers (the disciples of the disciples) or the Early Church Fathers and you'll clearly see that the Bishop of Rome (the Pope) had supremecy over the whole "universal" church.
After all, it was by Sacred Tradition that the New Testament was even written!

1. There was no such thing as the Roman Catholic Church in the Bible.
2. Peter did not sprinkle any babies and call it baptism.
3. Peter preached that you must be baptized in the name of Jesus. "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" was developed later as a "baptismal formula."
4. After Stephen was martyred, there is no indication that Peter or any other apostle instructed anyone to pray to or make petitions to Stephen.
5. There was no office of Pope for the first 4 or 5 centuries.
6. Peter was married.
7. Peter never preached about any trinity. Neither did Paul or any of the others. Tertullian dreamed up the idea of referring to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as separate persons.

There are seven churches listed in the Book of Revelation and not one of them is the catholic church. Nowhere in the Bible is the description of any church that has a pope! The catholic church was built by the Roman Empire 400 years after Jesus walked the earth. But yet the catholics see no problem with lying to the world to make themselves look like they are the only true church. Why do you catholics teach lies? Do you not know you are fighting against God? May God have mercy on your soul.

The church was not established by Peter. The church was established by Jesus Christ. The church is not a building, it is the "ecclesiastica" - called out ones. The church is anyone who accepts Jesus has their Lord and Savior, regardless of their denominational adherence.
The Catholic church will teach that Peter was the first pope, but no where does scripture teach that, and Peter would be appalled at that recognition.
"Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' Jesus replied, 'Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:16-18) Jesus is talking directly to Peter, therefore he would not use the adjective "this" he would have used the adjective "you" (on "this" rock vs on "you") This rock is in reference to Peter's answer, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." That is the foundation of Christianity. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

I don't think that is the argument, not for me, anyway it is that Jesus established the Christian Church, He did not give His church a name or a religion, He just said He was the way the truth the light. We call ourselves christians because we follow Christ not a denomination, many catholics, protestants, what have you are not true christians in that they only follow like sheep never getting the message of the way to peace is to give of yourself to be serviant to people in need and so on as Jesus taught us to become, if we were to walk in His way, to not be ashamed to speak of His great works and of Him dying for our sins so God would allow us an ear to Him through His sons sacrifice for us, God willed it, it was done and now those who so choose to can come to know Him and His great salvation and the Truth of the knowledge and reason for existance.

I'm not so sure I've heard the Catholic Church was started from Peter. I just don't believe the Catholic Church was ordained by God.
When you read the stories about the early church, while Peter was present in many of them, it's quite apparent he was not in charge. In fact, it appears James was in charge of the early church.

I have never denied that - I just deny that the church started by Peter is the only church that can bring salvation.

Because Paul hijacked the christian theology and replaced the teachings of Jesus with his own version.
He essentially pushed old Pete into the background where he was the founder in name only.
