Depression is not a personality defect or weakness, it is a medical problem. I must say that the right medicine and personal support has virtually saved my life. I've had panic disorder since 1979 and depression for about 10 years, but I cope just fine and lead a normal life now.

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.
She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.
After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

This is a good idea for people to share what has helped them through their worst days.
During my worst times, I would go into the hospital because I did not feel safe to be by myself.
This was the best thing I could do for myself at that time.
In the hospital I had medication adjustments to stabilize me so I could return home.
Now I still take medications which are either adjusted or changed from time to time.
I also found the "Right" therapist for me.
My depression is tolerable at this time.
I do have certain things that make me feel happy.
We need to know what makes us smile so we can hold onto this. It is helpful to see how many people on YA "Mental Health" feel depressed. I certainly am not alone. It is nice to see that others are reaching out on YA as well.
Best Wishes to Everyone!

I really appreciate your posting. when you know the cause for your depression, it is easy to get over it. If you are not able to get over it or not strong enough to face it, then you may require external medication. Meditation, pranayama are the ways to activate your brain cells. Indian Muberry fruit juice helps a lot to keep the brain cool and activate the brain cells. Scizophrenic patients and psychiatric patients got good relief in drinking Indian Mulberry.

personally i too feel that human support is needed...who do we turn to?..most depressions are a result.(in my case)..of family pressure, along with relentless work pressure.....i have worked selflessly for 20 years, first it was the wife's demands, then the children came along, and the need to provide was motivated by the children's welfare.education, and their future....only to find that because husband and wife were not focused in giving kids one message...the kids do their own things..from food to going out to meeting relations...etc, and they now do not listen to my advice on the importance of getting good degree, or a job or to be responsible adults..they think parents will pay..and if i don't..then they side with wife and i am the nasty guy...am tired..of fighting..and don't know who to turn to...the depression does not help, nor tablets...may be persons in similar situation would help..think may be its my fault....have lost all confidence in my ability/power of reasoning......please help,..

Good idea, it always helps as long as the group help to empathise ( not sympathise ) each other, recognise each others worth and build a viable alternative to navigate well together with the life around.
