PLEASE DO THIS!
Even if the police find your stolen stuff it is often hard to prove it is yours without the serial numbers. Just get a paper and write them all down.
Especially any firearms, way too many people have no serial numbers for guns.

In Los Angeles, the police couldn't care less what you mark your property with. They haven't returned any stolen items to victims in years and years. About the only thing they return are stolen cars, if you have Lojack. In Burbank, a small suburb of Los Angeles, a friend had a stolen rifle returned. Everyone thought it was a minor miracle.

USUALLY A LIST OF HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO INCLUDE A MODEL NUMBER AND SERIAL NUMBER. (KEPT SEPERATE FROM COMPUTER-PRINTED OUT OR STORED ON C/D)
THIS WAY THE INSURANCE CO CAN REIMBURSE YOU FOR A REPLACEMENT MODEL AND THE ITEM CAN BE TRACKED THROUGH PAWN SHOPS IF EVER HOCKED.
