Since you have made the doorway bigger the transition from the living room to the dining room is important. Beige and light green typically go together well. I think that a light green is a good contrast between the two rooms. I would trust your instincts on whether or not you think that it transitions well.
The other thing is that if you repaint the dining area, will the furniture blend with the colors? My guess is that it would since those are neutral colors.

You could go a couple hues darker in the dining room...maybe a light honey which would gave it a warm - cozy feeling. Painting the dining rm the same color would make it look like one big room depending on the size of the opening between the two.
Or maybe consider wallpaper for the dr. Good luck!

Dining room should have something in common with living room - flooring, walls, or drapes - but not necessary to match all of it.
I like to use a color from the kitchen and the LR for DRs - because they all connect.
Maybe have same wall color in DR and kitchen, with floor or drapes same in LR and DR. Repeat any colors used in wall/floor/windows in small accessories - ornaments, table linens, chair cushions, floral arrangements, centerpieces.

maybe try like a soft brown to match the beige. althought i love green, for a kitchen the browns seem to look nicer. but not a dark brown.

have you tried the color visualizer on Sherwin Williams website? I use it very often when trying to decide these types of things. We flip houses and are always in color choice dilemmas like yours.
