When I straighten it, it looks fine, the same when I put on hair moose to make it curly. But when it is natural it is horrible. It is frizzy and I don' t know what to do. I had a fringe years ago, and I decided to let it grow out, and now it has stopped growing, but hasn't grown to full length, it's just stopped at my chin ((my hair is shoulder length)). I really don't know what to do. Anybody else in the same situation?? Or anybody got any style/product tips they could give me?? You would be doing me a huge favour, as I am kinda scared that when I move in with a boyfriend later in life and he see's my natural hair it will put him off. :(

At the minute when it is straight or curly, I clip my fringe back, but im getting sick of that.

I also can't afford to get a really expensive hair dresser.

Personally, my hair is very thin and wispy, which is as equally annoying as thick hair can be to some people.

Though I've found to prefer my natural hair as I don't like hair drying or straightening as it's so damaging.

You could get it thinned at the hair dressers or layered, (I'm not an expert) but mostly, I'd say not to worry about what a boyfriend will think.

When you're in a relationship, there are going to be an innumerable amount of things you'll find out about each other that you won't like and some you'll have to live with. So don' worry about that part! Relationships are give and take; you'll both be on equal footing with each other. He'll have bed head every day....*Laughs*

Anywhoozle, in the mean time, as someone suggested, why not get a new cut or style? You can also ring up the hair dressers and ask for a 10 minute consultency to find what suits you and what'll be easy to manage.

Don't worry too much, loads of people have this problem. I for one, would like thicker hair where I imagine you'd wish for thinner hair. We can't win! *Laughs*

:)

My hair is thick, curly and frizzy too so I know how you feel! I have a bit of a fringe and it helps my hair look nicer. When I leave my hair natural, I usually have it in a messy bun at the back (its so much easier to do one when you have curly hair!). I straighten it often and people say that it looks nice but they don't realise how long it takes to get it like that and it never stays straight anyway. I think you should be pround of you curls. I try to even though they get annoying! Your boyfriend shouldn't care if your natural hair is frizzy or not.
Try getting some leave in conditioner, it should make your hair more manageable! Hope this has helped!x

I have heaps thick hair too (seriously, it takes 3 hours to dry naturally!) and while it may seem sucky because it gets frizzy and stuff it's way better to have thick hair than gross thin hair. I don't have a fringe because I have naturally wavy hair and I hate straightening it, so I would just get it layered up. Also, if you straighten it heaps then it will get dry and frizzy, so use a hair mask or a really thick conditioner. Lots of brands are good, I like Herbal Essences because they smell so good! A smoothing serum is a good idea too, because that way you won't need to use moose (which I find hard to use) and it makes your hair look really shiny.

And I sure that your boyfriend won't be put off by your hair!

I have very frizzy hair and have to straighten it every day!!! It's the price we ladies pay to look our best. However i use frizz ease serum to calm it down just a bit and i apply tresemme's heat defence to wet hair to stop frizz! These do work and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than salon stuff!
Oh and to get your fringe growing again i suggest a trip to the hairdressers! Ask for a style and cut, you will probably find it is just the dead hair preventing your new hair from growing! Don't worry about your boyfriend if he loves you he wont even care! I moved in with mine a year ago and he sees me at my worst (mornings) and still wants to kiss me :-)

All the best

My hair is naturally curly also, and i get days when i just want to put a sack over my head lol Everyone says how lucky i am, and to be honest i do love my hair, even though it has a mind of its own most of the time...:O/ One thing i never, ever do, is blow dry my hair, i just leave it to dry naturally..:O) I'm using miracle moist shampoo , conditioner and hair serum and i uses Frizz Ease hair rescue once, maybe twice a week to give it a boost, i would use frizz ease mouse as well depending on what i prefer using at the time. Try not to handle your hair too much either, because this makes your hair frizz out even more. My hair is shoulder length, but i have layers cut into it so it doesn't look so bulky. Unless you go to a hairdressers everyday and have your curls styled to perfection, then the reality is we are never going to look as if we just walked out of a salon....lol but we can try at least.....:O)

get yourself a good hairdresser! My hair is a nightmare - thick, curly (but the benefits are that rain bounces off for ages before it soaks any of the water in!!) Frizzease is quite good - try changing your shampoo to a different one. My full sympathy coz I'm in the same situation - and can't grow it long. Mousse does nothing for my hair - just leaves it sticky. Chemical straighteners at the hairdressers work for a while, and because it pulls the weight of the hair down, it looks longer!!

Oh and don't go near hairdressers that are too newly qualified - they are terrified of thick curly hair, and I've had a ton of nightmare haircuts because of them!!

Don't worry about moving in with a guy - you'll see his bad habits as well!!!!

I have been there before and have thick curly hair, so take it from me. One of the reasons for the natural frizz is because of the heat put on your hair when you straighten it. Heat is a enemy to thick curly hair, but if you prefer to keep straightening it sometimes, you should get a heat protecting spray like vo5 miracle mist heat defense spray (about 4 dollars at drugstores) to spray in your hair. Also, make sure you have a good rich conditioner, one that is designed for damaged hair, i use dove. And when you move in with the boyfriend, take a shower at night wash and condition your hair, then when you get out of the shower and your hair is still wet put conditioner in it and just leave it in, this will help alot with the frizz so your boyfriend is not turned off, while treating your hair as you sleep! When you wake up rinse out your hair and it will be very smooth. you can put in more conditioner in the morning too before your other products and keep it in all day. You can also use hair gel, lots of people will tell you that it makes your hair "crunchy", but on top of conditioner its not, especially if you have really bad frizz. All of this should help with hair growth too, but you should trim the ends of your hair to help, and put olive oil or vegetable oil in your hair and kind of massage your scalp to promote growth.( It comes out with shampoo so don't worry). I know oil sounds weird but it works, and moisturizes the hair very nicely too:) Hope that helps!

My hair is somewhat the same way (but I am black and natvie american) my hair is ok natural sometimes..but i dont do it becausae it frizzes really easy... I have to deal with it because thats how my hair is...

You should be happy..some girls with their hair wasnt thin..they try to make it look thick and full of body...

Just keep it straightened..

Get a blowdryer with a comb attatchment (Try the brand Yellow Bird..should be available and Sallys Beauty Supply) they get HOT!

Also buy hair oil/no frizz oil, you only have to use a couple of drops to add shine and to help the blow dryer get it STRAIGHT (not sticky grease or moose) and you might not have to flat iron/press it after you use that...

If it works on my ethnic hair..It should work on yours too! Good luck :)

I have the same hair... don't cut it any shorter or else it will puff out... let it grow and then go to a hairdresser who is familiar with curly hair and who won't be afraid to put some layers in it. I like Frizz Ease mousse and Crazy Sexy Curly!

You will do yourself a huge favor by finding the path of least resistance with you hair. Find someone with curly hair like yours, but that you think looks good and find out how they care for it. You will spend countless hours and dollars fighting your natural hair or you can find a way to make it work. Just remember, there are tons of people who would KILL for hair like yours. If your hair is unmanageably thick, you can find a stylist who can give a cut that thins it out. Again try to get recommendations from people who have hair you like or call around to salons to find someone who specializes in your hair type.
