I already speak Farsi (Persian) so I am familiar with the alphabet.

Thanks in advance

There is some software called Rosetta Stone. I haven't tried it, but it's supposed to be the best thing (in learning languages on your own) since sliced bread... The link is below to the official website, but I'm sure you can find the software cheaper at Amazon or Ebay or something.

Hope this helps

This Site Might Help You.

RE:
What is the most effective and fastest way to learn Arabic at home, without any language classes?

Rosetta Stone is awful--I've used it and it really gets boring fast. If you can't read Arabic at first you're pretty much screwed because it won't teach you until way later on. Rosetta Stone does not explain anything. It just tries to "immerse" you in the language like you're living in another country--but I'm pretty sure if you went to another country the natives would be able to help explain in English what they are saying.

Also, the type of Arabic that Rosetta Stone teaches is MSA or Modern Standard Arabic which is the common language understood by all Arabic speaking countries. HOWEVER, Modern Standard Arabic is only used in written communications and TV programs so trying to immerse you in hearing it spoken is a huge waste of time.

You should still learn MSA, just not with Rosetta Stone. Use Myeasyarabic.com. It's a wonderful site and it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars like Rosetta Stone.

I hope this helps a little. In conclusion, Anything other than Rosetta Stone will work.

Where I live, we have a medical teaching college, so I'd invite three or four Arab students to live with me, rent-free, in exchange for language lessons!

:-)
