I didn't intend to lump people together except for the purpose of limiting characters in my question.
I wanted to ask the same question to each group to get their opinions.

bullfighter: not at all. I've always wondered about how critical those who claim to have studied the Bible, the Pentateuch and the Qu'ran actually were.
I'm not atheist, christian, muslim or jewish and so I address my questions to those groups of people. I asked a similar question moments ago of christians, muslims and jews regarding the muslim text

Yep, I'm an Orthodox Jew and I've read the New Testament, Badhavista Gita, Koran, Dianetics and a few others. I've seen what other people have to say- and I'm very happy with what I have chosen,

I am Atheist and I have read the Bible. It has only confirmed all the hypocrisy and stupidity in Christianity I had speculated.
Sure there are good life message morals, etc, but so much of it is just bs. Even if I did believe in God, the Bible is still unnecessary. We all know it was written by man, and therefore has many imperfections and outdated opinions.
oh yeah, and the Jews have a similar Bible. In fact, I believe certain portions of the New Testament (or maybe Old?) are the exact same text belonging in one of their documents.
and the Muslims have the Quran, and therefore don't need a Bible either.
I'm not sure why you grouped Muslims & Jews with atheists. They have a god who may be the same god as Christian's, and atheists do not.

I think you'll find that pretty much all of the atheists have read the Bible.
Are you expecting that reading the Bible will convince people to be Christians? Quite the opposite happens, of course.
I haven't read the Koran or other "holy books", but you can be sure they'd have the same effect. I wouldn't consider a religious holy book if I were looking for wisdom. If there were anything significant in those books, we'd have LONG ago found out about it.

Yes, I have read it, and yes I would. Being a Muslim, Islam teaches me to seek knowledge:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, God will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise." - Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1631
Also, I used to be Christian, so I've read it before I became Muslim too. Not all of it, but the greater part.

Just out of curiosity, have you read the Quran? Would you?
By reading Quran, I mean reading the actual book rather than a few select verses found on particular websites. Many people say they've read the Quran, when these website verses are as much as they've seen, lol!

I am Muslim and I have read parts of the Bible, out of curiosity and because I studied comparative religions at university. I would like to read all the Bible sooner or later. I enjoy discussions about religion with my Christian friends and it would help a lot to read their Bible.
Salaam/peace.

Your question really doesn't make much sense to the extent that you include us Jews in the mix.
Why wouldn't a Jew read the bible? The entire bible, including the "new testament" was written by Jews!

Reading and understanding a book is two different things. A person can read a biology book 10 times, and still not understand it.
Yes I read the bible up to revelations. That was a long time ago.
___
Interesting because if a book isn't about religion it is exceptable and used as fact even though what is printed is BS. Take a look at most history books.

Atheist. Normally I don't read religious texts. They all contain vague mumbo-jumbo, I always wonder why these guys cannot talk in straight sentences. If you give me a good reason to read a book, I might read it, but I cannot see any at the moment.
And yes, I make no difference between Quran, Bible, Torah, and the gospel of the FSM.

I am an Atheist, and I have read the Bible. I read it to better understand Christianity and why I should believe it and I came out with the conclusion that it is a load of codswallop.
