he dont give it to me, the papers are on his name,can i take it with me or he can get me on trouble with the law

There are two issues at work here. Legally, the dog is his since his name is on the dog's papers. The other issue is what is really best for the dog. Taking him to PR could possibly mean quarantining the dog for a length of time. The climate is different, the food organisms are different. I believe you love the dog, but you need to research the reaction your dog may have to PR. I hope whatever happens, the dog is safe and happy.

First, you should check to see if the dog has to go into quarantine when you arrive in PR. Many places require 6 mos. in quarantine and that's going to very hard on the dog.

If his name is on the registration for the dog, then it's his dog and you can't have it.
