Basically we are god. Mystics have know that for centuries. We were not made in the image - we are the image.

No. God was not made from dust. God is eternal. Man was created, and is not eternal. Therefore, man could never be equal to God. Are you insane?
You don't know the definition of eternal. Eternal means having NO BEGINNING, and no end. Man has a beginning, as man is part of the 6 day creation.

Does something equal what it is part and parcel of.
Does the leaf equal the tree?
Does the wave equal the ocean?
Each are a part of the whole but could not exist without the source of their existence.
Like the leaf or the wave we to exist as a part of this idea we like to call God, but without God we would not exist at all.

No. Man is mortal. God is not. Man is the creation, God is the creator.
Even Jesus never claimed to be equal to God and never wanted to: Speaking of Jesus, Paul said "who, although he was existing in God's form (meaning in the spirit), gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God." - Phil. 2:6

Man can become "a god" not God by resurrecting the divine attributes of God within his heart.

Does your God want you to be?
That's what you need to think about before asking this.
