in the dream i was sitting outside and eating lunch. Then a dog comes and tries to steal the plate i was eating from. I push him aside but he again tries to pull my food away. I kept pushing him aside several times but he would again go for my plate.

Then i tell the dog to take the food, but instead he starts licking my hand compulsively.

I used to have a dog, who died 5 months back. It was a 15 year old german shepherd. But i never deprived him of food and always took good care.

In my culture, when someone dies an in your dreams they try to eat your food, that means you will die. As long as you deny them food...you will be alright.

Your dream does not sound like it is about a dog. But the dog usually represents an immoral person. It sounds like there may be someone who is eyeing you and desiring something that you have, maybe because they are needy. And because of their persistent nagging you, you gave in. And because you gave them what they wanted, you made a friend represented by the dog licking your hand.

It has nothing to do with your dog. Dreaming a dog represents to a friend, his character is being loyal. So, if I were to analyze your dream, it means someone or a friend will try to steal your loyalty and even if you have given it, she/he will still try to ask for more, so beware.

I'm no Sigmund Freud, but this could mean that someone that you love may be trying to take something away from you... I'm not sure if it really has anything to do with your dog at all...

Dreams aren't usually that literal, they usually have hidden meanings you can interpret several ways. I would say it means that in your relationships with family, friends, significant others, instead of being give and take, you give, and they take, and you don't get anything out of it.. The dog wants to take and take and then you finally give it to him, you give your nourishment, and then he wants you! I would say you should analyze your relationships and see how you can be better appreciated.

Someone is trying to take something away from you, and you finally give in, but at the same time, the person thanks you, or praises you for doing the correct thing.
