You are a brave mom chosing a cream colored sofa with a young child. With something chewy its best to use heat such as a hair dryer in order to get it soft so that you can try to scrape it loose with the least amt of damage to the fabric. You may however still have a stain from the candy and it may have to be treated by a professional. Too much scraping and pulling may harm the nap of the fabric. It would be best to invest a little money and call on a professional who will come to your house and take care of it. In the future, I would suggest using some type of cover which can be thrown over the sofa while the children are playing.

Call the people that clean upholstery and rugs. They can tell you what to do. You don't want to set in any colored stains. If it is not gum, but it is sticky and chewy it may need to be treated differently. Also, you can call the manufacturer of the sofa and they can tell you what to do. Just call the store where you bought the sofa and they can give you an 800 number to call. Sometimes the salesmen have knowledge of how to handle stains, etc. It's important for you to know whether or not it is scotch guarded. I wouldn't touch the sofa until I was sure what is on it and the right way to clean it. Be patient and good luck.

Steam it out. I suggest you put a towel over the chewy bits and use the steam button on your iron. It works at my house! Try it am sure it will help

i no it sounds funny but if u soak the area in fairy liquid and then get a towel over it and slowly pull it off that should remove it without ruining the sofa

Phone the shop you bought it from and they will give you expert advice. If it is scotch guarded it will come off with soap and water but if not I would ask for expert advice before tackling it.
