Yes I travelled aroung Australia and NZ on my own for 9 mths. Something like that is great as you meet lots of other people travelling too. Everyones in the same boat and friendly. Gives you the freedom to move on or stay in a place you like. I also went on an iguana conservation trip this year and am going again next year. Again a group of like minded people doing the same thing. Both great experiences.

I'm 57 and yes, just a few years ago I travelled alone. I did a tour of the West coast of Canada. On my travels I was treated with friendliness, courtesy and kindness. I also went to Toronto and Niagara then Spain on my own. On each occasion I had a wonderful time.

I've travelled on my own for the last 30 years or so. (I'm 57
now). Whether it works for you is largely dependent on what sort of person you are. I'm quite self contained and not terribly sociable anyway; most of my holidays now involve hiking and watching wildlife which are essentially quiet contemplative pursuits. Travelling on your own you must be able to deal with and resist all the con artists and undesirables
who prey on tourists particularly in big cities, and not mind eating alone in restaurants, and also just be able to spend long periods in silence without becoming depressed.

every time I travel, I go by myself. I love traveling by myself. You feel so free. You meet new people on the way. You can do and see what you want, without hearing no one nagging. It's relaxing, adventurous, and cool. Your never really by yourself. But still be careful. Take advantage when ever you can, always check the weather channel before leaving.
