The personal criteria I use is simple;
1. Is the person answering the question? If yes, then, it depends on how they answer it.
If they dodge the answer and try to convert you instead, then they get a HUGE thumbs down.
If they answer the question honestly and with heartfelt belief based on their religion of choice, then they get a thumbs up.
2. Do they use their religion as the reason that they are dodging the question.
If yes, then they get a thumbs down for not having the courtesy to keep their gargantuan noses out of a (usually) serious question.
If not, then they get no rating at all since they didn't actually answer the question and still wanted to pipe in just to get the points.
3. If they are just being a wise guy about it, then it's also big thumbs down.
It is extremely irritating when (for the largest part) right wing Christians assume that they have to convert everyone. I can respect anyone's theological belief as long as they can respect the beliefs of those around them, including those asking questions in this forum.
Many times there are Christians out there that can and do respect other people's right to believe as they choose and do not try to convert everyone around them.
Oftentimes, as with one young lady in particular, they will get something wrong about my belief system (Paganism) and post that as fact, when they really have no intention of giving out false information, but they have been falsely instructed. In cases like that I send them a private e-mail and let them know where that have gotten it wrong and hope that they use that information in the future.
After all knowledge breeds respect amongst those who try to be respectful in the first place.

Thumbs down = when the answer is rude, disgusting, or just plain ignorant. To me there's a difference between not knowing about something or being confused, and just being ignorant for the sake of being ignorant or ignoring the complete obvious. Opinions are different. I never thumbs down opinions unless it fits the above criteria. Some people know how to opinionate with decency and respect. Some haven't a clue what those two words mean.
Reportng = really takes a lot. When a question is geared towards enciting violence or hatred, is not meant for children to see, or is purely there to insult a particular member or group of people, they're more than worthy of reporting. I guess I'm a needy-basis-only reporter. :-P

My criteria is simple. I give religious and non-religious answers a thumb up if they have a valid argument. If they're just copying and pasting Bible verses or calling each other names then I put a thumb down. I do not report any questions unless they actually violate the terms here.
Sadly, I have been reported a number of times because people are ignorant and unwilling to listen to a conflicting view...

I rarely report anything. Usually it's only if they are blatantly breaking the Y! Answers' rules and regulations.
I give a thumbs down to thing with which I don't agree. But I don't give thumbs up or down very often.
Namaste!!

I give thumbs down for answers that
Are factually wrong ("90% of Catholic priests are pedophiles")
Don't answer the question ("How do spells work? They don't, pray to Jesus!")
Give no useful information ("ha ha, funny!" or "I'm not a so I can't help you.")
I frequently thumbs down an answer that has been clearly cut and pasted from another source, especially long cut and paste answers. That's what links are for. If you can't phrase it in your own words I can't trust you even really know what you're posting.

I've only reported one person on YA and that was over a year ago. And it wasn't in the R&S section.
I sometimes give thumbs down to mean or rude answers.
Someone is following me around and giving me thumbs down no matter what my answer is.

I do not report anyone here or on 360 other than SPAM email. It seems like tattle tailing to me to report any answer. I will give a thumbs down if I feel the answer is mean spirited.

I report ONLY direct threats to safety, bigoted attacks on anyone that are outrageous, solicitation of obvious minors for sex, and out and out profanity. The rest, while technically are violations of the CG's, I don't worry about. Let the "tattletales" report those if they want to. but I prefer to pick my battles and concentrate on the BIGGIES.
Now, thumbs down, I reserve for those violations of the CG's That I don't feel are worth reporting. Also extrememly bad answers that are WAY off base on the subject.
Brightest Blessings,

Report when it is a clear violation of Guidelines:
Not a question
No attempt to answer the question
Direct insults
Obscenity
Spam
Thumbs down:
The gray zone for the above, or contains significant factual errors.
Long cut and pastes that are taking up space and do not illuminate the subject of the question.
Although prayer requests at a technical violation (solicitation), I don't touch anything that seems sincere.

I generally don't report. I'll give a thumbs down for an answer that doesn't address the question at all, or that states as fact something that two minutes on google will reveal to be false. Darwin recanting on his deathbed, for example.
