Christianity as it is supposed to be is a beautiful, loving relationship with God. Problem is that over the centuries it has been so warped by man that now it is something ugly. As late as 150 years ago people were forced, under threat of death, to become Christians. And they were told what to believe by people with their own agenda in mind. If only the Abrahamic religions were to become more accepting and respectful of other ways of living, this might actually become a wonderful world to live in.

This obviously isn’t true, if God wanted slaves, He would have created slaves without free will. Instead, God wants a creation that loves, serves and obeys Him, not because they have to but because they want to.
A big misconception about hell is that it is a place of physical torment and torture. Rather, most Christians have understood these descriptions to capture symbolically that hell is final and utter separation from God's saving grace. If you want to be seperated from God He allows you to do it. In fact, those who choose hell would not enjoy the pleasures of heaven since those pleasures essentially flow from a right relationship with God.
The majority of Christians in this world are genuinely nice people who have an honest desire to help out and become the best people they can be. We are not sheltered, nor are we wimps — many have died for their faith, and many more are ridiculed every day, but press on anyway in the hopes that we can make a difference in someone’s life and bring happiness and acceptance to those who need it.

In some cases, it is quite simply, the weak-minded, but not in all cases.
While it is true that Christianity, as we have come to know it since the time of Constantine, has demanded blind obedience, but in it's original form did not.
What most Christians "know" as the Bible is highly edited for content and political gain. The King James version has, according to biblical scholars, more than a hundred intentional changes. And that is just one example.
what Christians today know as the Bible has been translated, in many cases quite poorly, from Sanskrit to Aramaic, to Greek to Latin and from Latin to most of the languages in the known world.
How many people on this forum have played the kid's game "telegraph"? The message gets passed from person to person to person and by the time it gets back to the originator, it is nothing like the original message.
That isn't exactly what happened with the Bible, but it gives one a frame of understanding. A bad translation from a bad translation from a bad translation comes out to be an infinitely worse translation than the first, and this continues to the final product.
It's called a cascade failure in communication.
In addition to that, there are books of the Bible that have never been out of the Vatican and are not in the new Testament because Constantine only kept those books in which suited his agenda.
Once many more people understand that, then it will make understanding and acceptance, from both sides, more possible.

properly, i do no longer ask questions like that so i won't be able to answer that query. you're conscious that, logically, evolution is ridiculously impossible? What i ask your self is, "Why do no longer any of those evolution followers ever clarify how interior the international a cellular 'makes a decision' to do something different than reflect itself properly?" in fact, that technique is many times pronounced as, "maximum cancers" and it KILLS the host organism. heavily, we've all styles of regularly occurring "this mutated into this, which in turn mutated into this" junk floating around yet has all people ever reported an organism evolving? no longer genetic selection, now, that may not what i'm speaking approximately. confident, if in basic terms tall human beings get married and have infants, populations gets taller. yet clarify to me at what identifiable element cells start up changing on their very own and species "replace into new species." At what element does the little legless organism's DNA decide for, "i think of we will advance some nubs right this moment. waiting adult men? ok. MUTATE!" How approximately, "ask your self twin powers, turn on?? variety of ______ shape of ______" i'm for sure no longer a scientist. yet i'm asking a severe question. show me how this works on a cellular point and show me the duplication outcomes. Then i would be keen to contemplate this "concept" as a achieveable thought.

Adding a bit to twoasones, read "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart D. Ehrman. He breaks down the plethora of mistranslations and modifications, and how they happened.
To your origina question, I am told by wife's family members that their family was forced under penalty of death to convert from Judaism to Catholicism when they emigrated from Germany to Spain pre-WWII. At least Franco gave them a choice.

what do you mean pain? hell? we accept rather than go to hell? instead of seeking "the truth" when we believe in God? we believe God=Truth.
Why would we seek when we already have? what would we fear when we have nothing to fear?
i dont get your question

I guess you're talking about conversion due to fear of damnation? If that's what you're on about I agree that it's a sad thing that fear drives you toward the divine.

Wimps? Hardly.
We do what so many do not do. We look at ourselves with scathing honesty. Too many would rather put on their false fronts, and hide behind whatever they use to shield themselves from truth.
How many people do you know that are really truly HONEST about themselves, with themselves, and to themselves, and to others?

Religious leaders scare their flock by threatening them with eternal damnation in a hell worse than earth.
I'm glad I don't believe that rubbish.
Peace, only without religion.
