I have two cats that I got back in October. They are both females, around one, and both spayed. The one thinks it is a dog and plays fetch and it not cat-like at all. She used to just sit and wait outside of my and my fiance's room when she heard the alarm go off. Now, she starts scratching at the door before the alarm. She started at 6:30 this morning. I thought if I ignored her she would stop- 15 minutes later she was still doing it. So I got up gave her some food and went back to bed. After that she did it again until one of us got up for good. How can I make her stop this?

Our male cat is obsessed with closets, doors and cabinets. He is consatntly trying to get them open to check what is inside and even succeeded in opening those doors a few times.

I recommend that you ignore your cat or allow her access to the room. If you get up to feed her, it's going to be a routine. If you don't feed her, she may still be happy in fulfilling her role as feline alarm clock. You can also try shutting her in another room when she does that, until she gets the idea that scratching in not an option that produces a good result for her.

My cats used to do this just for attention. When I would get up and feed them, they were fine for a few minutes until they wanted more attention. When I figured out that I was rewarding them for waking me up, I stopped getting up at all and made them wait. I sprayed a little amount of white vinegar on ther carpet outside my bedroom door and this stopped it right aay. Just don't use very much though or it will stink up your house.

I would say your cat doesn't know that daylight savings time is over, she is still on the old time and you are on the new time.
Open the door, let her in, feed her, what ever, she is still on the same schedule, you are the one who changed :)

i would get a scratching post for your cat. maybe he needs more attention from you,or you could just leave your door open, unless hes a cat that is annoying to sleep with.

Open the door!

Seriously though, there must be some smells cats don't like.
I'm just guessing, but try rubbing garlic on the door.

You put double sided tape, so when the cat scratches the door, it will get stuck, then take the tape away, and the cat wont do it.

Attach a piece of aluminum foil in the same spot they scratch.

my cat does that. she just wants to be in the same room as me

why not just put a cat bed on the floor and allow them to sleep in your room?

Open the door and splash cold water on them. May take a few times, but it works. May seem cruel, but it works. By feeding them, your only letting them run you, and they know they can get away with it. I mean , don't starve them, just let them know who's boss. If that don't do it, get them declawed!

they probably either want you to hold them or stop what they think of as "that godawful screeching noise coming from my people's room"
