Those who have passed on are with God in there spiritual bodies so the answer is No 2ND Corinthians chapter 5 verses 7 and 8 to be absent from this body is to be in the presence of God' Instantly you return to the Father, all souls came from God and all return to him.Luke chapter 16 there is a gulf that divides those who served God and those who did not the final judgment of all is after the book of Revelations is fulfilled.Only your physical body returns to the earth your spiritual body returns to the Father, you are in a different dimension Heaven.God bless you.

`There is no such thing as dead. We do not die - we just change back into the spirits we were before we took on the human experience. We are eternal and will never cease to exist in God's eyes.

There is only one God, people interpret God in different names and forms. God is the Origin and Destination of the Universe and is beyond life and death. All religions of world teach human way to get close to God. You give your Best, God will give thy Best. Ask God for help and forgive, God will help and forgive you. Pray; Worship and Thank God for everything. Remember wherever there is Happiness in Life, there will be Sorrow. To get Happiness, you must master Sorrow. For Success in Life; Believe in Self and God, Learn from Past, Concentrate in Present, Plan for Future, and remember ignorance gives failures. Have control on, be the master of, not the slave of your body, senses, and mind. Purpose of this Life is to Improve by Gaining and Sharing utmost Knowledge and Experience to differentiate and choose Best, Right, Good, Truth, God against Worst, Wrong, Bad, Untruth, Devil. Set your Desire level perfect or OK to be brave, no low to be coward, no high to be cruel. You have rights of Survival, Self Defence, and Freedom.

He is talking about the the ones who are living with the spirit of God on the inside of them. The ones that don't have the spirit of God in them are referred to as the dead, meaning dead to the spirit of God. God is the one who gives revelation to his scriptures and it is given to those who really want to receive it, not just to know it (revelation), but to know him (God).

Remember in the OT when God said in Exd 3:6 Moreover he said, "I [am] the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. "And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
God did not say he WAS the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob....but he said I AM the God of ..... God was saying that they were Living and not dead....Even though these men had physically died hundreds of years before this was spoken in the chronological order of the bible...
Also, it is because Believers are alive unto God thru Christ....Therefore, even if our bodies die, we are still alive unto God.
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

It doesn't mean that at all.
The religious leaders were both Pharisee and Saducee, the former believed in life after death, the latter did not.
Where this partial quote you wrote came from is where Christ was both answering and refuting some erroneous belief.

Dead as we see it is not dead as God sees it. When our bodies stop working God doesnt call us dead, we do. When our spirits stop working God calls us dead
