One has to have something to have faith in. Faith is trust, on a higher level. "Spiritual" and "spirituality" have become buzzwords with less and less meaning. To many "spirituality" is a nice, amorphous, aery-faery feelgood feeling, with no real target. Anything that induces that warm fuzzy feeling is acceptable.
However, as I said, real faith has to be anchored in something greater than ourselves, such as God and Jesus Christ. Faith of that kind involves a relationship of prayer and worship and the attempt to obtain greater awareness and knowledge of the One we worship. It's a true person-to-Person relationship which can grow deeper and closer as we cultivate it. This makes our faith (trust, confidence) stronger as we grow closer to God.
Without real faith in real God, "spirituality" is nothing more than a blanket word.

Before you embark upon a spiritual journey it is most important to have faith in yourself to be capable of undertaking the arduous path. Without faith you can not go very far spiritually.

Eph 1:13-16 the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory.
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, ~(from New International Version)
Did you read the response about darkness being the "matrix" that light rests on? Excellent.

Without Faith there we be no progress in spirituality. If there is no faith then one cannot progress even a step in spirituality becoz you will not follow the tenets fully.
Faith comes from Intellectual satisfaction, always remember the best way to develop faith is to question about it and you will have a better understanding of the subject and eventually have better faith.
Being Critical always helps.
Regards
PS: Thanks a lot for all your questions, it actaully a revision for me as to what I need to do for myself. -- Thanks.

We do not and cannot know everything. In order to survive, some things are accepted on faith. Whether we want to attribute concepts of faith to spirituality is up to you. Unfortunately, as human beings it is hard for us to think without concepts and language, yet we seek to understand the ineffable.

Faith is only one of the side-factors required in spirituality..
It is there thats all. There cant be a state of spirituality without faith. But thats not important atall...
Whats more important is love... Like a child, going to his mother with love, we tend to move in the path of spiritualism with love. It is main factor and the only factor. Faith, trust everything come automatically... like a child loves his mother, hence trust come into picture not the otherway round...
May we love Him, who loves all.

Faith is the base of all existence - physical or metaphysical.
We put our faith on physical existence by logic - but doubt metaphysical existence only bcos it cant be seen.
spiritual belief comes only through faith. First one has to submit his unconditional faith - then only the understanding of spirituality can be gained.

From a Christian standpoint it would be wise to answer questions like Jesus did. From Scripture.
Hebrews 11:1 -"Faith is being SURE of what we hope for and CERTAIN of what we do not see."
Those that argue that unless they can taste, touch, hear and see their "religion" will not believe. Actually, they have no faith! God tells us what is faith. Believe it?

Actually negligible!
Faith is what you don't know and have borrowed from others. Faith gives us illusion and concludes that we know, which makes you stuck for ever. Borrowed knowledge can serve the purpose to some extent. Answers are to be discovered by your own self. We must get rid of crunches of belief/faith and realize the Truth ourselves.
Have a open, receptive, non-critical, unbiased and inventive mind of a scientist. Prior to an invention, a scientist doesn’t have any logic to prove his work, but even then he is fully dedicated and committed to his work, which eventually makes him successful.
