I've come across Seckler as a profession of someone from Alsace in the 1600s but I can find a definition in French or German.

Any ideas?

In earlier times it was usual that people put their money into small leather-sacks which were worn around the neck or on the belts. To make those sacks was the name-giving occupation of the secklers. But even the belts could be made by them. Gloves were another speciality of their trade. They considered themselves the better sort of leather manufacturers.
