I was prescribed these for depression and anxiety, I read the instructions and I know that it is normal to have side effects for the first 2 weeks or so, I took the first pill today but I wasn't prepared for how wierd it would make me feel. I have panic attacks anyway, but right now I feel really paranoid, shaky, sick, headache, sweating, lightheaded, and I keep feeling suddenly tearful etc, I can't tell whether I'm having a panic attack because I was worried about taking the pills or if the pills are making me feel like this, please help, I'm home alone just now and I need advice/reassurance. Has anyone else taken these, did you feel like this?

Yes, my best friend is taking it, the second time in two years.
She have the same symptoms like you have, but it will be OK, how my friend told me, after 10-12 days. do not forget that you are not aloud the alcohol and be very careful if you drive.
But i think before to take any antidepressant try acupuncture and plenty work out. It really works.

I'm not familiar with the drug you're taking, but I've been on antidepressants before. Your description reminds me of how I felt when I took Paxil. I continued to take it for another three days. Big mistake. What made me stop taking it was on the fourth day after I got home, my neighbor was so worried that he took me by the arm and walked me from my car to my front door just so he knew I got home ok. And he lived in my building. I would recommend that if your doctor's office has someone on call, you call there immediately. If not, I'd suggest calling the pharmacist. It sounds to me like you're not on the right drug for you.

One bit of positive news for you, it's common to go through a couple different prescriptions to find the right one that works with your body. Just be a little patient and comforted by the fact that you WILL be feeling better soon.

You need to see a medical professional. That is possibly an allergic reaction. If your medication is not right for you, it can produce psychotic episodes, which are not fun at all. Celexa (citalopram) is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). The reaction you are having is similar to one I know of at least two people having, who were immediately taken off the drug and put on something else. Sometimes people have to take different medications for depression and anxiety. SSRIs treat both, so they are widely prescribed, since depression and anxiety tend to go together.

Best wishes to you. I hope you can sleep and that you will see a doctor as soon as possible.

You will be o.k, you are worrying over something that need not be worried about, if you still feel this way, i suggest you call your doctor or a emergency doctor who will reassure you that there is nothing wrong! If you have friends invite one of them round to sit with you for a while and have a good old chinwag, that should cheer you up and stop the panic! Hope this is useful to you and enjoy the rest of the day!

I was on antidepressants for almost three years before I got pregnant. I stopped taking them when my husband and I decided that we were going to consider trying to have a baby soon. I also had some withdrawal symptoms similar to the ones you described, I had terrible headaches and my energy level was not the same. I felt tired and like I was coming down with something for about a week and then it faded away. I would recommend going to your doctor who is prescribing the meds and ask what way is best to stop taking them. I stopped cold turkey, but that is probably not the best way to go about it.

Have you had your Thyroid checked (Thyroid problems causes depression) Also other hormones. Under active hormone levels cause depression.

The side effects of many pills are worse than the symptoms.

Take every vitamin possible and eat an extremely healthy diet. Our foods were made to keep our bodies running healthily. If you eat poorly your body will work poorly. If you eat poorly take supplements. That will improve the situation.

AWOL my darling buddy, the thought of you feeling rough makes me sad, as soon as you can you need to see your GP to see if he/she can switch you over to another type. Not sure if you can phone health service direct if the tabs are making you feel very peculiar. Please feel better fast and email me when ever you need to, even if you think it's rubbish. Do let me know how you get on.

I wouldn't have thought the tablets would make you react like this. It is more likely, as you suspected, anxiety because you don't know what to expect.

I'm sure your doctor told you but you need to give the drug 4-6 weeks before you will feel any benefit.

Good luck.

just keep yourself calm. The doctor wouldn't prescribe them if they weren't safe. If you are that worried, phone your gp or hospital or drop into your nearest walk in centre, hospital or doctors surgery. They will advise you whether its normal or not
