I really want to convert my religion and become wiccan. But when I told my dad, he had a problem with it and he said "When you move out on your own, you can be whatever religion you want to be" and my dad told me that he was agnostic, but now I think he's Christian...or is there something about wiccan that may turn people off?

Can anyone help me come up with a convincing argument, that being a wiccan is not bad...even though he clearly thinks it's a horrible religion.

And can anyone direct me to some good wiccan websites?

Sorcery and witchcraft is forbidden in Scripture. You know it does not matter what we want to become in life. If it is without Jesus as our Lord, we all end up in the same place.......eternal seperation from God. If you are not able to leave your parents home today, then you need to honor what your dad says. You are under his authority, living in his house....not yours. Until you make payments, it does not belong to you. If you go against your dad's wishes, nothing good will come out of it...only bad. Remember, your real character is who you are when no one else is watching. So don't do anything that you wouldn't want revealed because in a matter of time "all hidden things shall be uncovered."

Sorry hun, but if you are living under your parents' roof and you are underage, then you must respect their wishes. Your father told you that you can choose your own path when you are out on your own - so there you go. For now, all you can do is learn more about it.

Um - Angel wings - Satan is a concept created by Christianity - since Wiccans do not believe that Satan or the devil or whatever you call him exists, they don't celebrate or worship any such thing - nor is it a religion that promotes evil and wrongdoing. I understand you were misinformed and brainwashed into believing such things, but please refrain from spreading misinformation and lies about things you do not understand or have knowledge about. I don't disrespect your beliefs in such a way!

Blessings.

Edit: bri - while I agree with some of the points you make, I can't agree with advising this girl to engage in Wiccan practices and keep it hidden from her parents. This would require her to be dishonest and disobedient to her father - Wiccans do not promote such traits.

Again - read all you can and learn about the path - if it is right for you, you will be able to make the choice to walk that path when you are an adult and are responsible for taking care of yourself.

Your Dad is probably still of the belief spread about by Christians that there is a link between Wicca and Satanism and is concerned that you will bring evil spirits into the house.
Satanism is a christian invention in which they made satan look like the Wiccan horned God to try to convince people to adopt the new religion of Christianity and give up their traditional beliefs.
If you want to study Wicca go ahead, read the books, google the sites - just dont discuss it with your dad. My daughter in law has a 'meditation room' in which she keeps her altar. and other relics - but you could keep your bits in a drawer and set them up when you want to 'pray' or cast spells.
When you know more about the religion yourself you will be able to make your own arguments for the religion, but you will be fighting hundreds of years of indoctrination. You will probably hear of ritual human sacrifices and the like, but hear nothing of how many people Christians have put to death in the name of their religion.

At the age of 11, I informed my father that I was an atheist, and was promptly disowned.

That was 32 years ago, and my father and I have no relationship whatsoever. He even refuses to associate with his grandchildren.

You would do well to drop the subject and let him think that you are a Christian. When you move out on your own, you will then be able to freely practice whatever religion you choose.

His house, his rules. Sorry about that.

I even have little shavers which you will get at walmart or virtually everywhere in wellness & splendor. The are approximately as long as a cutip and are available distinctive colours. It makes trimming your eyebrows extremely common! you may touch up a undeniable section while not having to shrink to rubble with a super razor. in case you may't locate them in simple terms ask a helper, they're going to comprehend what you propose.

Wicca does not celebrate Satan. Wiccans don't even believe in Satan. It is a natural earth religion. Anyone who says differently does not know what they are talking about and just spouting rhetoric. Not to mention hate and lies.

I would suggest asking him what his objections are to Wicca and then addressing his specific concerns instead of compiling an argument that may not address any of his points and may also come off as lecturing to him. These conversations go much easier if you do not make presumptions about their objections.

Unless you are dancing widdershins round your loungeroom how will your olds even know what you privately believe?

Is there any point in being wiccan? Isn't it just the other side of the coin of the sky fairy stuff?

You really want to convert your religion? From what? It's the parent's responsibility to "raise up their child in the way they should go" and it sounds like your dad never had a clue. Hence, look where you are today. You sound lost and are searching. I know you will not listen to anyone, but I offer that you really, REALLY keep your mind open to what the truth should be. Do not let anyone steer you into something that sounds - weird. Do not be pulled by peers or twisted by lies. You were designed by God for something very beautiful. Ask Him what you should do. You have most likely, never prayed in your life - how about asking for that advice first?

Leave the topic alone until you're out on your own. My parents didn't know I was atheist until they finally figured it out 15 years after I was on my own.
