Use a black light on the area and if it glows all funky its ring worm. If it does end up being ring worm there really is no need to run to the vet. All you need to do is get anti itch jock cream. It will clear it right up. Make sure you wash her bed and your hands because you can very easily get ring worm from her. I got it from my guinea pig on my cheek, it sucks and it itches. But if you don't have a black light get the cream anyway, if it is a perfect circle and is slowly getting bigger its 99% chance that its ringworm. You want to clear this up quickly before it gets worse and spreads. If you have other animals separate them fast.

It is not that common in dogs, and not that common on the belly as the starting place. Either see a vet for a correct diagnosis, or put Lamisil cream on it.
My dogs often get these "circle" looking patches on their bellys....not RW.
You can try just putting a Bacitracin like ointment on it and see if it gets better. If it does, it is not RW.
The vet would be the way to go to know for sure.

If you have a black light, take the dog into a dark room and shine the light on it - ringworm glows under a black light.
Even if you don't, if you suspect it is ringworm you should take her to the vet as soon as you can - ringworm isn't serious, but it can cause a secondary skin infection and become serious. Aside from that, it is highly contagious, so the chances of you getting it from your dog are high. It also tends to scar human skin, so the sooner you get it eradicated, the better.

get some meds from the store for athletes ft or jock itch..it is just a fungus and the antifungals will get rid of it
also get an iodine based shampoo or wash and bath your dog with it every day for a few days and every other day for about 2 weeks
I do agree though..ringworm is usually on the face or paws first
edit
if it is ringworm and you put a black light over it..it will glow

take it to the vet, they will give it meds to clear this up, and yes you can catch it to, most of the time an animal can catch it if they have been around another thts had it or recovering from it, dont touch it either as it can spreat very quick, and they inch the animals same as a human, please take it to a vet.

Like the first reply says, to the vet ASAP!
Don't let it on any furniture, anything it has come into contact with must be washed.
You do NOT want ring worm.
