I started using lip balm a few months ago and now I can't stop. My lips feel dry and tight ALL the time, even when I am wearing the lip balm. If I stop using it for a few days, my lips crack open and bleed. The cracking stops when I start to wear it again, but they still feel dry and tight. Sometimes the skin flakes off. I was told to drink more, but it is not working. How can I stop using this stuff and get my old soft flexible lips back??

I have tried several different things, but what I'd like to do is not have to apply ANYTHING at all!

Have you considered the possibility that it might be the type of lip balm you're using that's causing the problem? Try a tube of petroleum jelly type lip balm. Aveeno also makes a good natural lip balm.

try blistex, its not a lip balm, its a white cream but it works WAY WAY WAY better than lip balm, when i had bleeding flaky lips and i applied it it burned for five seconds and then had some cooling sensation, before i knew it my lips were soft and normal again! i'm going to attachpictures.

In a sense, yes. *Medicated* lip balm actually dries out your lips. Don't use it.
