should give tithes and I also understand that we should give offerrings.A tithe is tenth or ten precent of our gross earnings ,my question is where in the WORD does it say how much our offerring should be .Is there a place where it says that it should be more than ten precent or more than our tithe it self.I know it is more of a blessing to give and than it is to recieve and that when we give it shall be given unto us.I also know that if we give sparingly that we will also reap sparingly. But is there a place that says a certain amount should be given as it is said concerning tithe. Please give scripture references ONLY .Thank you for your time .Best Wishes>>

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were to give 10% of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle / Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites of the sacrificial system. The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul states that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).

The New Testament nowhere assigns a certain percentage of income to set aside, but only says it is to be “in keeping with his income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). The Christian church has essentially taken the 10% figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving. Although the New Testament does not identify a specific amount or percentage to give, it does talk about the importance and benefits of giving. They should give as they are able, “in keeping with his income.” Sometimes that means giving more than a tithe, sometime that may mean giving less than a tithe. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the church. Each and every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom as to whether to participate in tithing and/or for how much he or she should give (James 1:5). “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

You have made a couple errors here.

Malachi 3:10 does not refer to "we."

This is the tithe of the tithe the Levites were supposed to give to the Priests who served at the temple.

Secondly, nowhere in Scripture are tithes commanded of earnings, gross or otherwise. Tithes were the tenth of the increase of produce and livestock only, and never wages. No one in the old covenant/testament paid tithes of wages.

Thirdly, those who quote it is more blessed to give than receive are those who want you to give to them. If they use tithing as their rationale, they are going contrary to the new covenant and the will of God. They are wolves.

But if you want to pay tithes of your wages, etc. thereby ignoring Scripture, resulting in your living in deceptions, you are free to do so.

According to the bible Tithing was given in the book of Leviticus, but after Jesus´s dead the Law given to Jews are no longer in effects according to Ephesians 2:15 "By means of his flesh he abolished the enmity, the Law of commandments consisting in decrees, that he might create the two peoples in union with himself into one new man and make peace"

Truly Christians are not under the tithing but give contributions for support the preaching of the good news and helping people, but the amount is free and nobody can force you give 10% of your income it is a personal choice.

Offering for certain offences:
See Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy for Moses' laws on that.
But I think, more important is the spirit of the offering, not the written law.
I Cor 13: even if I offer my body to be burnt, but have not love, I am nothing.

I tithe money, but also time.
There are close to 400 days in the year, so I do volunteer work for 40 days of the year generally.

I have never read a scripture that says anything about the amount you should give. I think somewhere down the line churches came up with 10% as it is an amount that most people can comfortably afford to give and enough to pay the church's expenses. People have accepted it and it has become the norm.

What you give is between you and God. My family gives a tithe and then we give an offering above the tithe. I think that tithing and giving has helped us keep our perspective on material possessions.

Tithing is an OT law. NT believers are called to realize that God owns 100% of everything and that we are to be faithful stewards of the time, talents, and treasures that He has put under our control and to give cheerfully out of hearts of gratitude in those 3 areas, not according to a legalistic formula.

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your spiritual act of worship.

1 Corinthians 12:4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

2 Corinthians 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

9 As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

WE should give whatever the Lord dircts us to give..

There is no set amount in the NT.

Many churches believe in a 10th, which when you think about it, really ISN'T that much.
