Absolutely. A lot of people will never understand what Art is "for", since it's on the outskirts of being "useful"...

Art is expressed not just on paper, canvas, in stone, or sprayed on a wall, but also in custom paintwork on a car, plans for architecture, making fine furniture, etc....

In its purest form, before its utility as a means of making money or feeding your ego is the sensation of moving the instrument you use to lay down your line, or carve the stone, whatever, and intuitively steering it in a way you know will eventually make a design or image that will be compelling to look at....

- The immediate process of drawing/painting to me seems to me like biking over terrain, the course-corrections made in time, the wipe-outs, the recoveries...you either take a safe route, or take risks...there's nothing sedate about it, as far as I'm concerned- it's a concentration exercise, a meditation...

Pretty essential to me!

well I chose an art carear and art definitely is essential in my life. Why? Hmmm. it is a bit hard to answer...maybe because when I am making art I fill that I am hiting the limits of my own borders, because I feel alive, because it balances me, makes me feel alive and energized.
and if I know the feeling? man when I was a kid I would never go to sleep before making my drawings.... :) Wish I was like that today.

Essential, yes. Growing up as a shy and quiet kid i relied on art to sort of reach out, out side of my circle of really close friends. As i got better at it my confidence level grew and it helped me become more out going. I'm no longer that awkward geek looking kid...well, maybe a little geek looking, but i'm now an artist to boot. My art can be checked out at hellosanantonio.com under artist name ''Guerro'' in the local artist section.

Art IS my life.

Yes, I know the feeling, but it isn't a want, it's a need.

Sometimes it is too frustrating for me to write something down. Words tend to be inadequate in expressing something. If I *did* use words, they would just be to paint the picture within the readers head anyways, so usually its just easier to paint it in the first place.

there are defiantly times i just feel like i need to pick up a pencil and just sketch and that is why most of my notebooks have little drawings in the margins and at the top of the paper.
