It's what the ages have made us believe is the "perfect" shape. Bust and hips are suppose to measure the same and the waistline 10 inches smaller than the bust and hip. A lot of fashion that's out there for women, is made with this thinking mode. It's hard to fit clothing if you are not shaped the way the industry dictates. My measurements are 36inches-27 and a half inches-35 and a half inches. My mid section looks boxy to me, so I have to "create" a waist line. I'm lucky enough to be able to sew. I make everything I wear. Therefore, I can alter patterns to fit. I agree with your way of thinking. Some of the most beautiful women that ever graced a movie screen were "voluptuous"....not FAT...but curvy.

Hum...some girls don't care the way they look mainly because they have other attributes besides"looks",like for an example, intelligence and a PhD.
Other girls are obsessed to have a skinny ugly body with no boobs or butt, because that's all that they have to to get by life, like the models,actresses....
I guess depends how material and stupid a woman is willing to be to achieve a 'Hollywood"dream body(or whatever other crap concept)!

Well personally it's because I have always had to buy clothes to fit my hips, then the waist is miles to big and I have to completely remake the blasted things so they will fit, that is why I complained. Some girls can't do alterations so it limits their choice in clothes.

only those who complain about their bodies have SOMEwhat body image issues... we are exposed to the media which promotes skeleton figures, so some people blindlessly immulate everything these models do, because in ways they think that what they do is right and they cant complain because they look better than they do (better than pear shapes). second, men want what they cant get, and since (this is the truth) fat people are there for somebody to ''get'' them, MANY skinny girls are hard to get! and many woman WANT to play ''hard o get'' so thats why SOME woman dont like being a pear shape, like me.

Take a look at the top fashion models and celebrities, how many top fashion models are strutting down the runway with a "pear shape." Women emulate the stick thin figues that they see in the media and that they see their husbands and boyfriends drooling over. The stick thin, Barbies doll image is changing somewhat and the media is recognizing a more realistic body shape for women,

Women don't care what men like. They are engaged in a life-long showing-off contest with other women. Don't think they dress up for us - that's a ruse they use to get us to buy them clothes. It's woman-vs-woman out there. And if they decide that the fashion is to have no hips and only a left breast, then that's how they'll try to make themselves look, irrespective of what we want.
The good news is that evolution is on our side, and regardless of what they try to do to themselves, nature will always make them look good in the end. :-D

I think it's just about being in proportion. No woman wants to have a huge chest and a flat butt either. They'd rather be an hour glass (large chest & bum) or slim from top to bottom. But least flattering body type is a "pear" cause it's frumpy looking.
