There are 55 countries where English is an official language (or in the cases of countries like the US where it is the 'unofficial' official language by it being spoken by a large proportion of people) - but in places like India there will be significantly more people who speak Hindi than English, despite it being an official language.

India, The US, Pakistan, Nigeria, the Phillipines, the UK, South Africa, Sudan, Kenya, Canada, Uganda, Ghana, Australia, Madagascar, Cameroon, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Sierra Leon, Papua New Guinnea, Singapore, Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, Liberia, Jamaica, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, The Gambia, Maritius, Swaziland, Trinidad and Tobago, Fiji, Guyana, Soloman Islands, Malta, The Bahamas, Belize, Barbados, Vanuatu, St Lucia, St. Vincent, Micronesia, Kiribati, Greneda, Seychelles, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Marshall Islands, St Kitts and Nevis, Palau, Nauru, Niue and Tokelau.

Just about every country on Earth has English as a second or third language - it's the lingua franca of the modern age.

However, Mandarin Chinese is spoken by 900 million people, and Spanish is spoken by nearly as many people as English is - around 300 million.

I don't know much about Croatia and Bulgaria but in Czech republic you shouldn't have a problem communicating in English especially if you go to a bigger town. In Prague you might find more English speakers that you would ever dream of. Lots of English people are flying there to party. And I know 5 Londoners who moved there. I know lots of French living there too so don't worry. Some universities even offer courses taught in English so you should check that. Just you can't expect old people and police officers to speak fluent English - they speak German, Russian or French but young people speak English so don't worry. I don't think that you would feel isolated because of language barrier. You can always learn few phrases to survive eg. One more beer - jeste jedno pivo [jeʃte jedno pɪvo]. Czech is easy to read - just learn the sounds of the letters and you'll be able to read anything! I love Czech Rep. I was even thinking of moving there with my husband

Britain
Ireland
USA
Canada

New Zealand
Jamaica

These I am sure about. There are also countries in parts of Africa that have English as an official language, but I can't remember what these are.
