It was done on purpose. Some cats were cloned and a foreign gene was inserted into their DNA to cause this effect. I find it both disturbing and fascinating. Disturbing because sometimes, there is no common sense in doing some things just to see if you can, and fascinating for the reason you state in your question. I hate tripping over my pets in the dark. They must think I have night-vision and can see them, or they are just dumb animals.

This little "trick' has been done for years. It is a common procedure to see if a genetic splice is present. Included in the splice is a gene that produces a protein that fluoresces under ultraviolet light. Note that the cats do not glow in the dark. They need to have ultra-violet light shined on them.

Basically they cloned the cats and put some thing in the DNA that makes them glow when exposed to ultraviolet rays. I've been reading about it too and I honestly dont know how I feel about this. It's kind of weird.

Yeah, it was done on purpose supposively. Its only glows under some type of fluorescent light. What disturbs me is the cloning. It just doesn't seem right.

Yea I found it disturbing, all i could think was "so your doing experiments on animals..."And yes ther glowing was on purpose-a "protein" they injected into the "cloned "cats those cats were supposedly all "hand "made so to speak

I'm all for it as along as the animal isn't in any harm or has any health problems because of this alteration. (From the looks of it they look very well kept and fed, very healthy looking so at least they're testing looks reasonable). They certainly wouldn't do very well outside at night with any possible predators if they were made to be pets on day. *oh yeah, just remembered, you can't tell that they'll glow in the dark unless you have a special uv light. so unless you're at some glow in a dark shop, you couldn't tell

How much better could it get. Think of the cats that would be saved from a horrific death because people can see them at night. This is long over due. I only hope they can do this with dogs and other small animals.

Totally agree with you on this. I found it very disturbing and twisted. And yet Yahoo! put this under "cute cat videos"(??) -- heartless and warped.
