I cannot rightly understand why , to some people , it's right for Brits to emigrate to other countries around the world , but when it comes to other nationalities coming into this country , there 'is hell on'. Double-standards!!. Are the British still a "superior race"? according to some out there.

Agreed. Also the people who come to the UK are usually economically active, useful, educated people who come here to work, whereas what Brits do other countries get? Old pensioners or people wanting to open an "English Bar" somewhere! We are a very hypocritical nation.

Britain has a glorious past.A powerful Nation that won over invaders that tried to overthrown and to rule them.A Nation with(STILL) the best Navy, and one of the best Queens ever;Elizabeth I,tradition and culture.
Every body should be proud of what they are, their heritage.
But I don't believe in superior race.Societies that had that believe end it up swiped by the unpredictable. That's not the case here.
Many can not tolerate immigrants, unless they have a respectable "history" background. But Brits sure do!
Not saying that we should step on other people's Nationalities but maybe we could .at least ,make an effort to try to accept them and to know about their culture a litte better.
Immigrants seek a better life and opportunity.
Oh,well,if I was a Britain, why I would ever want to leave Great Britain anyway???

There's a difference between emigrating and supporting yourself rather than coming to another country and expecting every single handout that's going. I've got family all over the world and I'm pretty sure the rules are so much more difficult in other countries if they were to claim aid of any sort. They've made sure they were financially able to support themselves before they left and also arranging for housing, medical care etc etc.

I don't believe the British are a "superior race" in any way as you put it for in the end we're all born equal and we all die equal I think that term is stuck back in the empire days. You have many great points but surely you can see the UK is a small island and struggling as it is with the size of the population, where will we fit everyone?

Thank you.

There are two types of migrant, so it is well to distinguish. One is the type which aims to scrounge on our economy. This type can be distinguished from the Brit who goes abroad with a view to being self sufficient, hard working and, in many cases, making a contribution to the local community.
The other sort of immigrant is the EU citizen who comes to the UK because he makes more money there. There is no ostensible difference between that sort of immigrant and the Brit who decides to go abroad because the opportunities are better and he may even, if he is fortunate, have a tax free salary. However, such emigrants will normally not be expecting any handouts. They or their employers will have to arrange private health cover. They will have to arrange private education for their children. And they will be heavily reliant on the willingness of the receiving country to allow them to live and work there and grant them the necessary permit. Any criminal behaviour on their part will see them leaving pretty quickly. We are not really comparing like with like.

Nothing to do with "superiority" or suchlike. The majority of Brits can support themselves and do not sponge off the host country. Anyway, I suppose it is "right" for anyone to emigrate. whether the host country will accept them or not is another matter.

I don't think it is double standards we have the right to move around as long as it is LEGAL, we work and make a positive contribution and learn the language too.
Are you all for an 'open door' policy that let's in all kinds of criminals?-if the U.K hasn't enough problems already by being too lax.
In some countries is is impossible to emigrate even if you are a professional U.K citizen you are not guaranteed to be accepted.
I think we need to be more choosy in the future who we have.

im sick of brits being portrayed as a racist intolerant nation when we open our arms to everyone and anyone brits dont have a problem with immagration its just we are a tiny island with 60 million people here and there is still an open door policy which will put further strain on our public services we are also accepting people from different cultures who are intolerant and thats where a lot of the gang culture has sprung from. and as for brits emmigrating we can be refused entry to countries where we seemingly are inable to refuse others entry to our country!!

Most British emigrate as skilled workers, the professionals are the one who leave, we tend to get the lower skilled workers here but
I dont think its about the actual immigration process that annoys British people BUT who the countries laws allow to come.
We had an influx of people a few years ago, who although a minority of the total immigrants, that came here recieved more benefits than any UK citizens was entitled too. It was heavily covered in the media and unfortunatley caused bad feeling towards any immigrant who comes looking for a better life!

OK for starters most of the people emigrating from here are doing so because of all the immigrants here. Also we pretty much built Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. When we go somewhere we arnt looking for handout or the other country citizenship.

The Brits wouldn't emigrate unless they where trying to escape the multicultural hell hole that is the UK today, So its a bit of a chicken and egg situation. Most people say they emigrate because of the weather, its not true.

Official Goverment figures show that English is now the minority language in 1300 schools in the UK.

That answers your question as to why people here are concerned over immigration.

'nuff said.
