I have just returned from Sydney after 6 years being illegal. I left Australia by simply bought the air ticket, went to the airport and got departure stamp. I'm now married my Australian permanent resident wife for 6 months. We are willing to go back to Australia together. I would like legal advice. How do I go about, who do I contact? please help.

You will be subject to intense questioning and so you should be and then there is no guarantee you will be successful. The Australian Immigration Department is waiting to deal with you ~~

your wife is an australian PR and she is currently NOT living in australia? If she doesnt go back to australia she may lose her PR status - unless she has the resident vias that allows her to stay away for 5 years.

Most likely she will have to go back to australia in order to sponsor you. You may not be allowed to enter australia - because the immigration officer will think that you are not likely to leave when your visit end, and perhaps because you were illegal there for 6 years.

IF she did apply for you, chances are you will be denied when you get asked to give addresses for the previous ten years, and you have to out down all your australian addresses with no official record of you being there.

I'd say you will most likely be denied.

You should not have gotten that stamp on your passport. Imho, you're screwed. People like you give immigrants a bad name. You'll be under intense scrutiny. Perhaps the authorities will have mercy on you - assuming you have money, were never on government assistance, never caused a problem, can explain why you didn't have legal paperwork.

Apply for the visa, if you can leave off details, you can try, but you're going to be asked - don't lie! Lying will catch up with you and make things worse.

You cant get in for a longtime and you spoiled it for yourself. Expect no help from the authorities if you first broke their laws. How could they trust anything you say to them??
