The distilled corn mash liquid. It is a homemade alcohol, distilled in a homemade STILL.
Colorless, and often tasteless, it is almost pure alcohol.
After you collect the distilled liquid, a small portion is burned on a white plate. If any coloration is seen in the flames, it could indicate the presence of lead, iron, or other metals from the still. This is highly unhealthy.
MOONSHINE was made in secret, at a secret location in the woods. So as not to be found by federal agents working for the department of Alcohol, firearms and tobacco.

MoonShine....The operation was usually done at nite..hence moonshine or moonshiners.
WHITE LIGHTNING....Powerful stuff...illegally distilled booze, usually running around 80-100% proof. Actually started in Europe but was really put to use in outlying areas in Canada and the USA. Government, the Feds, banned it because they couldn't tax it. You could buy a Premium product for a much cheaper price than the legal stuff. Same process as Whiskey, Vodka etc. BUT it usually comes out CRYSTAL CLEAR and NO additives. Goes down smooth but does it pack a punch. A real wollup. I never ever had a hangover from it either. East of us were the best moonshiners. Ukrainians, recipes brough over from the old country. Man, they could make HOOTCH out of just about anything. Now with the Revenuers shutting down so many stills and the Moonshiners dying off you don't see much of it anymore except out in the real rural areas. It was so organized that they used to have what they called "Milk Runs". They would actually deliver it to your door.
Aaaaaaah the good ol days. I guess there are some things from the old days that were better than some of todays things. Hmmmmmmm forgot about that. Cheaper, no harmful side effects or hangover. The last time I had some of that stuff was at our Medical Chrismas party on the Air Base in 1983. Wonder where we got it from?

Well the potato peels are boiled and the steam is blended with sugar and some other stuff to make the illegal drink known as moonshine. It is a corn mash based fluid that naturally forms an alcoholic content. The stuff is popular in the southern woods---not taxed--not legally a healthful drink...can make people sick---real sick. The moonshiners are constantly hunted for the "STILLS" by the federal people. A still is copper tubing added to a tank that boils the mash and the steam goes up the tube to cool and eventually drip out as moonshine. It is an acquired taste--not a good first time drink---it can burn your throat for a few days at first.

Is an American name for there illegal homemade alcohol, its is a mash of corn that is fomented then distilled to produce a clear odourless alcohol that is almost 100% proof. It is normally distilled 2 - 3 times to remove the "heavies" this is crudely tested by burning the moonshine, if you see any other colours other than a very light blue, then distill it again. If consumed whilst these " heavy's" are present, it is said can cause numerous side effects including blindness. hence the term "blind drunk"
Whilst in the middle east the same process was used but using a mash of potato pellings etc. this was called "sydiki"
arabic for "my friend".
Oh and its lethal stuff " very powerful!!!

Your all wrong Yes it's home made alcohol made from any type of sugar then distilled. Totally legal in New Zealand but not in a lot of other countries.
You take your wart e.g. cane sugar/dextrose with water add your yeast, which dies once it to around 18% then you put it a still (a lot like a kettle) collecting the steam at 1st there's acatone and methonol you dont want to drink these then there's the good stuff known better as Vodka,
Moonshine has a bad name because being made illigal it's only the dodgy people who are making it

For other uses, see Moonshine (disambiguation).
Moonshine is a common slang term for home-distilled alcohol, especially in places where this production is illegal.
The name is often assumed to be derived from the fact that moonshine producers and smugglers would often work at night (i.e. under the light of the moon) to avoid arrest for producing illegal liquor. The 1811 edition of the Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, originally by Francis Grose, defines "moonshine" as follows: "A matter or mouthful of moonshine; a trifle, nothing. The white brandy smuggled on the coasts of Kent and Sussex, and the gin in the north of Yorkshire, are also called moonshine."[1] It has been suggested that the term might derive from smugglers' explaining away their boxes and barrels as "mere moonshine" (that is, nothing).[2]
Moonshine is made by yeast fermenting a sugar source to produce ethanol and then separating the alcohol from the fermenting mixture (the mash) through distillation using a still. Because of its illegal nature in many states and simple production, moonshine is usually not aged in barrels as are other, similarly-produced liquors such as whisky or bourbon, and it sometimes contains impurities, off flavors, and toxins such as methanol that the more sophisticated distillation methods of commercial distilleries are able to control. In popular culture, moonshine is usually presented as being extremely strong and in North America is commonly associated with the Southern United States,

Moonshine is a common slang term for home-distilled alcohol, especially in places where this production is illegal.
Sloppily-produced moonshine can be contaminated with toxins, mainly from materials used in construction of the still. Despite the well-known hazards, it is claimed that stills constructed using car radiators for a condenser are still used. The lead used in soldering these radiators ends up in the moonshine, and in some cases, glycol products from antifreeze used in the radiator can appear as well. Both are poisonous.
Occasionally moonshine is deliberately mixed with industrial alcohol-containing products, including methanol and denatured alcohol. Results are toxic, with methanol easily capable of causing blindness and death. This resulted in moonshine being known as white lightning, since anyone drinking this mixture would literally be 'struck blind'.
