I have a lot of small family photos in Jpeg formats and I would like to enlarge them into 800x600 wallpaper size. Kindly inform me whether any free software download is there to enable me to do so. The enlarge should have same clarity and sharpness

Let's see if my tiny brain can explain this.

The image from which you are working is one where someone has knocked down the resolution so that it CAN'T be enlarged/copied. This is HOW most digital photographers make their money! They GIVE away the cheap, small digital images to draw you in and make you WANT to purchase the images and will SELL you the legitimate images.

You need to get the original images from which the owner made these smaller jpeg images. THAT'S the way it is.

rdenig_male, then getting the originals will be even EASIER, and this question wouldn't have cost him FIVE points in Y!A!

Asker, with digital photography, as with MOST things, the following applies EVERY time. Cr@p in means cr@p out. No matter how hard you polish this jpg image it's still going to look like a turd, and you CAN'T polish a turd!!! *laughter*

Since you are not God, you can't make something from nothing, and that is what you will be trying to do with this software. Your version will have LOWER resolution/quality than the original, end-of-discussion - EOD. You're going to have to learn to live with it or to ask the owner of the image FOR a copy of the original.

The best known program for increasing the size of images is Genuine Fractals (far a full review and results see http://www.imaging-resource.com/SOFT/GF/GF.HTM). The designers website is at http://genuine-fractals.en.softonic.com/ from which you can download a trial version. The full version costs £102 (about $US200)

(to mista ricksta - read what the guy says - he's referring to family photographs, not ones nicked off the web)

Just go to Yahoo or Google and Type in Resize Picture and There should be tons of links, find one you wanna use and most of the time you get to pick the size you desire.

I don't know of any free programs..but .....by wallpaper size do you mean computer desktop wallpaper? if you want to enlarge them for your computer screen, I can do it for a minimal fee depending on how many you have.
