when guys are online (AIM, MSN..etc)?

Do guys ever keep track of who (him or the girl) initiates online conersations? or does he instant message the girl they every moment he sees her online?

I know that girls usually waits until the guys initiate convo's, so I was wondering if this is the same way for guys.....

Guys don't keep track of anything.

They see the girl and go - oh! let's talk to so-and-so and so the IM her.

The ones that do ... well, they might be insecure or playing games or whatever.

Sometimes if the guy is online and doesn't message you for a long time and either messages you (or maybe you IM him first) ... sometimes that's cos he's in the toilet or afk or whatever.

If we see something we want - we go get it. We're guys.

Most I wait for a conversation to be initiated; Unless I know the person and I want to have a conversation. It's not a case of being shy or anything. i just want to have something to say. I have dozens of contacts all of most of whom want to chat. Just start it, if it's just a conversation then Guy's don't think about it that much. We are simple beings.
Much of the time I stay invisible, so that I can have a conversation with who I choose; If I go "public" then I get innundated with people allwanting to chat at the same time.

With me and this one guy, I make him initiate the convo's on AIM, because he is logged in almost all the time through his phone, so I don't know when he wants to talk or not.

i alternate just cos sometimes it might come across as being too crowded nd so if there is something i really need to tell her or ask i will initiate, tho if i no she's had a bad day i wait for her to initiate cos then i no she wants to talk... a bit of consideration i think nd common sense..u dont wanna suffocate him/her..expecially if u wanna date them or u like them!
