Well, for one thing, Christians are told not to drink TOO MUCH wine (or get drunk). It never ever stated in the Bible that we cannot drink wine at all.
Why we eat pork, well for one not eating pork is a Hebrew tradition (notice this restriction is not even mentioned in the ten commandments) and in the new testiment, God makes unclean animals clean (even for Jews): Take a look at Acts chapter 10 (Peter`s vision) and Romans 14 (Paul`s letter telling the Jewish Christians to accept the Gentile`s faith, eventhough they are more "free" in what they eat and drink.)

In the book of Acts, Peter received a vision telling him that all meat was OK to eat. It was a metaphor for reaching out to non-Jewish people, but is also taken as freedom from the Old Testament laws about pork and other foods. Most of the dietary rules in the Old Testament were designed to keep the Jews free of stomach upsets and food poisoning, since of course they didn't have fridges and didn't know about germ theory.
As for wine, Jesus drank it; there are no prohibitions about its use at all, except that we shouldn't drink so much as to become drunk.

Old Testament law fulfilled by Jesus Christ. Jews used 2 follow hundreds of laws, but for legalism's sake, not God's. Many old testament laws shoul still be followed, i.e. the 10 Commandments, however, the legalistic aspect is gone. With Jesus, salvation comes from faith, not deeds. Pork and wine are still probably good 2 stay away from though just 4 health reasons, which is why they were most likely forbidden in the first place-God lookin out for us!

Read the bible, dont tell us second hand information, it will help you in the future.
Colossians 2: 16, 17
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Matthew 15:17-19
Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies
@Mysterious Prodigy.... ill see you on judgement day standing without Jesus, you will prove to be an interesting spectacle, hope you will have your funny comments with you when the time comes..

The Bible prohibits the consumption of alcohol in the following verses:
"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
[Proverbs 20:1]
"And be not drunk with wine." [Ephesians 5:18]
3. Alcohol inhibits the inhibitory centre
The human beings possess an inhibitory centre in their brains. This inhibitory centre prevents the person from doing things that he considers wrong. For instance a person does not normally use abusive language while addressing his parents or elders. If he has to answer the call of nature, his inhibitory centre will prevent him from doing so in public. Therefore he uses the toilet.
When a person consumes alcohol, the inhibitory centre itself is inhibited. That is precisely the reason that an inebriated person is often found to be indulging in behaviour that is completely uncharacteristic of him. For instance the intoxicated person is found to use abusive and foul language and does not realize his mistake even if he is addressing his parents. Many even urinate in their clothes. Neither do they talk nor walk properly. They even misbehave.

God considered pork to be "unclean". Peter had a vision where God scolded him for calling pork unclean. It was followed in parenthesis with (and thus all foods were declared clean). The only problem with this is that some Greek texts don't mention the part in parenthesis and Peter himself told everyone what the vision meant. He said God (I'm paraphrasing by the way) had warned him to stop shunning his people who didn't follow the Pharisee's ridiculous food rituals (like washing your hands up to your elbows, etc.). Peter had to look into the spiritual part of God's people, not the physical. In other words God told him to stop being so hollow. Peter mentioned nothing about the food laws. As far as wine, Jesus ordered his disciples to drink wine on the eve of Passover. Wouldn't that make Jesus a hypocrite?

The word illegal is not in the Bible. AS a Christian gentile, I am allowed to eat pork, and drink wine. I am warned however that an excess of either is gluttony and foolishness, and is therefore, a sin.

many christians will say that jesus released them from the law and then quote this passage:
Mat 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
this is wrong. this is in regard to washing of hands.
the actual verse is this:
Luk 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
further proof that christians do not full know the content of the bible and rely heavily on the misinformation passed along by other christians.
wine is only illegal for the nazarite.described in Numbers 6. this is what samson was.
not to be confused with the nazarene, which was a description of jesus, who did drink wine.

Christians can eat pork & drink wine. The Old Testament said that we should not eat animals with hoofs & that does not chew the cud. But after Christ, things has changes. Camels are not to be eaten, but the Muslims eat them?

Didn't Jesus turn water into wine?
Pork is in the Old Testament. The New Testament does not include a pork restriction.
