Do those who believe in Religions such as Christianity or Islam think that the harder they deny others beliefs or call them false and close their minds to others idea's, the closer to their God they become and the greater rewards they will win?

Honestly I think that some believe that to be true. I believe someone who believes in God and wants to know Him should investigate and try to understand other religions or non-religions. Too often we, myself included, become pig-headed and think that we know what God wants and we don't want to admit that we could be wrong. That was the Biblical lesson of Job. You don't know God or understand God so stop saying you do. The point of us communicating and talking on the internet is to get an understanding of what God wants us to do for him and each other, not to shut each other out and bad mouth each other.

I don't think that certain religions demand that you be close minded to other beliefs, but I think that some people are, for lack of a better term, so far gone into their religion that they think their way is the only way. Therefore, if you don't believe what they think you should believe, then you are wrong (and/or "evil").

I'm a very open-minded Christian/former Wiccan.
And before that, I was Catholic.

Just because you made a final decision on an issue doesnt mean you didnt look into other religions and choices. Open mind doesnt mean to never ever make a decision or take a stand. It just means that you have looked at all the possibilities and consider all the evidence out there. If you have done this and then came to a conclusion as to the truth or to what you think is right then you arent closeminded.

No Faith demands an open mind to accept that we don't have the universe all figured out. Some However don't see it this way and feel threaten to the idea that there are people who see things differently.

One of the realities of life is that there is a visible world and there is an invisible world. Materialists believe there is only the physical world. In the invisible world there are forces and powers that are good and evil. Satan is an extremely powerful spirit and is the god of this world, of which he has greatly deceived. He is king in his kingdom and rules his organized government cruelly. He has a great army of fallen angels. He has the authority to choose earth's leaders and give it to whomever he chooses. In the end he will give all his authority to one man who will rule the world for a short time. This man will utterly amaze the world. He will appear invincible. As powerful as Satan is, he still is a created creature. He knows the Bible thoroughly and knows what his fate is. Nonetheless he believes he can beat God and change his fate.

Without faith it is impossible to please God. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; he was buried, and he rose the third day according to the Scriptures. He was seen of the Apostles and over 500 men at once. Believe and be saved. This is faith that will not be ashamed.

No.

I think faith requires a selectively very open mind - the ability to open your mind to a position that is unknowable, untestable and unreasonable.

Atheism by that definition could be described as close minded as there is no room for the unknowable, untestable and unreasonable.

I know where I would rather sit though - within the bounds of the knowable, testable and reasonable

In general, Christians are afraid to open their minds and ask questions and challenge their beliefs because they are taught that these things are wrong. They are taught that all they need is faith. This gives true faith a bad wrap. True faith comes from learning and accepting, not from blindly following.

The more you open your mind to a supernatural power, the more it is revealed. The more it is revealed, the more you focus on it and less on other things that don't hold water. Faith requires the mind to be opened in order to see truth.

Faith requires a focused mind.

haha of course it does. the ignorance of these people doesnt allow them to see it though.

if this wasnt the case then christians would be telling people to embrace islam and vice versa.

if those involved werent interested in the rewards of pursuing thier religion, why would they do it? why would you bother pressing your ideas on other people.

the fundamental reasoning in religion is that if you do what you are supposed to do, you will be rewarded in the end.

so yeah those in religions are closed minded.
