I can relate. The priest who married my husband and I was a friend of his family. He is currently in prison for child molestation. That and hearing of similar events poisoned the church for rme, and I decided that while there are genuine priests and genuine people in the church, that it is also a haven for sociopaths, sexual predators and misfits.
I was out of there!

How can you be a Devout Catholic, but not like your faith from the start. I don't believe your Rape story either. The Church is not a priest, why would anyone with faith leave because of actions of a man

I am so sorry about your mother and sister. Honestly, if I had to imagine myself into your situation, I would probably want to leave the Church because I'd probably associate Catholicsm with the two horrible incidents that happen to your mother and sister.
But try to look pass that. We know that there have many numerous cases of child molestation done by Catholic priests. Very unfortunate but please remember that religion did not do this, people do.
Also, ask yourself if you were happy with your choice of faith before you found out what had happen and why.
I hope that helps.

That is a decision that only you can make... I would recommend talking about your decision with friends close to you who know you....
You say you have been a devout Catholic... and while you are angry and have every right to be angry.... it might be useful to investigate your beliefs in a more personal way.

Well, it seems to me that it isn't Catholicism itself that harmed your family. It was a person, wasn't it?
It really must be your decision, so if you are uncomfortable with attending the church, you mustn't.
And if you didn't think it was right for you to begin with, that has nothing to do with what your mother and sister suffered.

If you really did not want it from the start then do what you want to do. The Catholic haters are having their say. They love to offend God.and Mary. They should not be called "Christians".They are doing the work of the devil.

the catholic church was founded by Jesus Christ himself. the teachings of the church were handed down from the apostles. its the only church that posesses the fullness of truth. there are thousands and thousands of preists. its a very tiny minority of them that do such evil acts. it doesnt make sense to walk away from the truth because of the acts of a few wicked people. i would suggest that you take the time to learn about the catholic church and its teachings before you do something so rash as turning your back on the one holy catholic apostolic church.
