Molly, my out of control cat bit me several times as I was trying to stop her from chewing up my books. It's red. It has like welt spots, sort of like ant bites surrounding the actual bites. And there are scratches. I cleaned it up, and put neosporin on it because I have no hydrogen peroxide. But it's still bleeding a little. I also have no bandages. I guess you can say, I have no first aid kit! My question is how do I treat the cuts? And also, I have no car so I am unable to get tenanus shot over the next two days until someone can take me.

Thank you for all your help everyone. You all gave me some helpful advice on how to treat the bites. I don't feel like I am getting a fever, so I am good on that front. The bites are actually starting to less in pain. Even though the bites seem better, I'll continue to watch and clean them. And in the next couple days, I'll get that shot. Thanks again. Now, I am at level one on points. lol. So, I'm trying to choose the best answer, but don't know how. lol. I'll figure it out. Thanks again.

I was bitten by a cat a year ago and did nothing about it at first. My wrist (where the bite was) then began to swell, to the point where i couldn't turn my hand. I went to the doctor and she told me most cat bites end up getting infected and that the best thing to do is to always see a doctor. They will give you antibiotics. Cat scratches aren't normally that bad, but the bites can get pretty nasty, even if it's just a tiny spot (like mine was). I suggest you get to the doctor, and until then, just wash with soap and water. Don't cover the bite with anything (like a bandage), just use a small band-aid until the bleeding stops. It needs to breathe.

Keep cleaning the bites on a regular basis.Neosporin is a good topical ointment to use as well. It might be better to use one with an antibiotic in it. Cat bites can be very bad so watch it closely. You should have a tetanus shot every 10 years. You may need a booster if you are up to date on your shots. If you notice any further reddening or discharge from the wound. Also get to a Dr. right away if you develop a fever.

My goodness, tetanus is a risk. To ease the itching I put vinegar on small cuts and scratches. It stings like heck but after the itching subsides. If you had a tetanus in the last ten years its stil good.

Not a lot of vinegar just a bit on a tissue or cotton ball and dab the area.

the two you and your pal ought to unquestionably get tetanus photographs while you at the instant are not as much as date on that. Cat bites can be particularly severe as they are frequently deep puncture wounds. Cats have bacteria of their mouths it is genuine and you besides would have bacteria (possibly extra risky) on the exterior of your pores and skin and the puncture can take that stuff deep into your physique and particularly reason worry for you. So, examine on the tetanus and watch the element of the bites. My cat bit me a pair of weeks in the past as i became into "pilling" her and it became into pink and somewhat sore for some days. once I won a deep chew on the look after my finger became into swollen, pink and painful interior of 15 mintures of the chew and that i had to have intravenous penicillin that day on the ER and take pills for the subsequent ten days. It became into my inattention that brought about the chew and not the fault of the worried kitty i became into "boxing" to pass abode along with her new kin.
