The Few. The Proud. The Marines!!

2007-12-15 20:47:14 · answer #1 · answered by Beau 6 · 1 0

The marines have the tougher boot camp but that is just a boot camp. Physical abilities dont matter as much as mental toughness, & I feel that both the marines & army have that covered equaly, Specially infantry. I just cant compare them for whos better just because of one thing.

When a group of Soldiers & a group of Marines walk side by side & come to a ridge & look down & see the enemy, they all look at each other with a smile & say, "GET SOME!" Then they all run down to battle killing the enemy on the way!

The Marines. They're known for their general marksmanship superiority to the other branches and they have a reputation for having the hardest bootcamp.

I still personally hold the army in the highest regard and respect them just as much as I respect marines (and the other tree branches), but general opinion is that the marines are tougher.

I'm a Marine, so I have a bias. It's true that the Corps has a tougher entry standard and boot camp, and it's harder to stay in. That's not to discount the Army, we have different missions is all. My son is Army, and he's tough as boot leather. I went to MP school at Ft Leonard Wood with a bunch of Army MPs and they were just as smart and capable as us jarheads. There will always be inter-service rivalry, but we do fight under the same flag.
Semper Fi !!!

Now you are going to start some crap!

The Army is Hoooorah!

It isn't the tougher part. Everyone defends their branch, but honestly, it is working as a whole defense system. All branches carry a certain amount of weight for different missions, and we cannot be effective without one.

So to really answer the question! The US Forces is the tougher. We are all buddies. As Vets we all get along fine. We are all, or were Soldiers.

I've been career Army, but my most honest answere would ber the US Marine Corps. What other branch of the military was born in a tavern?

Boot camp
Army + 8 weeks
USMC = 12.5 weeks then 4 weeks of combat training

Equipment
Army = New stuff
USMC + Retired Army Stuff

Rank Structure
(Non Commissioned Officer = more responsibility)
Army = E-5
USMC = E-4

Duty
Army = Ground force
USMC = Air, Land, Sea

Conclusion = USMC

Marines (grunts, mud Marines that is) unless they are air wing Marines (wing wipers) or Embassy Marines (Sea going bell hops)
Main reason different missions. Marines training concentrate more on small unit operations with no armor or artillery support. More for fighting in jungles where armor or artillery can't be deployed.
Army concentrates on large unit operations with armor and artillery support. More along to lines of infantry to follow up the armored units.
