I would buy those little smokies. Make a Thai sauce of peanut butter and soy sauce and add a little sugar. Cover the smokies with the sauce then roll it using a lettuce leaf. It gives a finger food with a unique taste. Empanadas are easy too if you use pre made crust. Mix some cooked ground beef with some chopped carrots, chopped green olives and a handful of raisins. Add seasonings if you like. Cut the crusts, you can use a glass or cup and get the dough rounds flat and even. Put a spoonful of filling in each empanada and fold the pastry and use a fork or your finger to dab some water around the edges and crimp the edges together. Bake at 330 on a baking sheet for about 25 minutes. Pancit noodles are a real crowd pleaser. Just visit an Asian food store and ask for some suggestions. This is a very cheap way to feed lots of people. Happy Holidays and Best of Luck to you!

Oven Baked Cheez-It Chicken Tenders
3 cups Cheez-It crackers (or similar, small cheddar flavored crackers)
2 eggs
1/4 cup water
nonstick cooking spray (such as Pam)
1 lb chicken tenders (or boneless skinless breasts, cut into strips
Preheat oven to 350* F.
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil (or silpat if you have it).
Place the Cheez-it’s in a zip-lock baggie and give it to your kid to play catch, touch football, whatever. Smack the back a few times with a rolling pin… get the cheese-it’s crushed, but don’t worry if there are some larger pieces. Pour into a shallow bowl or plate.
Crack the eggs into a bowl and add the water. Whisk together until combined well. (something else your child can do!).
Dip the chicken in the egg mixture, then roll around in the crushed cheez-it’s (kids love this part!)
Place on the cookie sheet, continue until all the chicken is coated.
Lightly spray all coated chicken with the cooking spray.
Bake at 350 about 15 -20 minutes (start checking the smaller ones after 10 minutes. I always pull them out as they get cooked through so that the smallest isn’t incinerated by the time the largest piece is done cooking).

For savory food, mini sandwiches made from mini croissants or mini bagels with cheese and some sort of meat (turkey or ham) inside...bake them in the oven so the cheese melts. Mini pizza slices are also inexpensive and easy...make "pizzas" in the oven or toaster oven by topping pita breads with pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni and slice up. Chicken fingers and potato wedges (you can buy these frozen) with a variety of dips (Ketchup, BBQ, Ranch, HoneyMustard) on the side are good too.
Cheese and crackers will be good for both kids and adults, just make sure to have some familiar cheeses like cheddar available for kids. For the parents that want their kids to eat something healthy, having some carrot and celery sticks might be good too.
You can also make some kind of kid-friendly snack mix (with cereal, pretzels, peanuts, etc.)
Cupcakes are always a great dessert for kids, and inexpensive and easy to make.

We had a pot luck at work tonight and one lady brought in little appetizers made with a thin slice of ham like those budding meats and she spread cream cheese on it and then put a sweet pickle on top and rolled the meat up around the pickle and sliced them into about 1/2 inch rounds. very good, fast and easy.
vegetable tray, and chips and dip if you want that too.
You could also make a cheese ball and have crackers with it a lot of kids like cheese make it something simple like 2 pkg. cream cheese softened a couple of pkg of chopped beef i usually use the budding beef in those little packages in the lunch meat section cut up fine and a bundle of green onions cut up very fine. Mix thoroughly and then roll into a ball if you want you can chop some pecans very fine and roll the ball in that or divide it and leave the onions out of half.
another suggestion is make your own chicken fingers and serve different dips with them the kids will love them and you can make quite a few and if you bake them instead of frying them healthy and better than a lot of fried food for the kids.
you can have horseradish ranch dip , honey mustard , plain ranch, and plain old ketchup for the kids and if you want to go a little farther have some tater tots for the kids . have a merry Christmas too and a happy new year have fun at the party.

PARTY PITA WEDGES
2 regular sized pita pockets (6 inch)
2 large cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
16 slices pepperoni
4 round slices provolone cheese
1/3 cup medium chunky salsa
In a heatproof cup or bowl heat olive oil, oregano, salt and pepper in microwave on high for 40 seconds. Remove and add butter. Stir and set aside.
Using kitchen scissors, cut pita pockets into 4 pizza slice shaped wedges (slice in half, then slice each half again to make the wedges). Cut again along curved outer edge to separate into 2. Brush both sides of the pita wedges with warm olive oil mixture, coating well.
Place wedges crust side down on a baking sheet. Spread 1 teaspoon of salsa to top each wedge. Cut provolone slices into 4 wedge shapes and place one on top of each. Top with a slice of pepperoni, if desired. Drizzle with any remaining olive oil and sprinkle lightly with coarse sea salt.
Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Serve while still warm.

Buy a bag of meatballs and toss em in the crock pot with some pasta sauce. Serve them with mini-hamburger buns - those are fun and filling. Or do some big pasta plates - one red sauce, one white (alfredo) and a pesto or such...easy and cheap, with a salad and some bread.

Get some chicken breasts and slice them up. Use a light marinade and coat them in breadcrumbs, then bake and turn until crispy. Serve with tomato sauce or ranch... Almost every kid loves chicken fingers. :)
