Okay, like many of you I've packed on some pounds well actually 15-20 pounds. I know shame on me, you don't have to say that since my hubby and his family feel its logical to talk about my weight gain. Anyway, I'm going to start working out on my treadmill again. How long would you say would be a good amount of time to work out on a threadmill to see results within a month? I'm going to a wedding at the end of next month and I need to get on shape and keep myself on shape. I understand dieting is important but my body losses weight with exercise. Any answers will help...please no sarcasm. Thanks!

This is not just for the wedding but I'm trying to get rid of these pounds for good and get in shape before it gets any worst. After all waiting for the new year sounds silly at this point.

Go for 60 min a day. It doesnt need to be all at once, and just try to up your actvity level. Rather then park super close to the store , park far away and walk it. take the stairs insead of the elevator,, stuff like that. Drink less soda, and cut refined sugars. Up your fiber intake. The best and healtiest way is to cut calories where you can, use portion control and work out and up your activity level in general.

It depends on your fitness level. If you are beginner, walk briskly on the treadmill for 45 minutes on an incline of at least 1%. Increase incline and duration accordingly when things become easy. If you can jog/run, then try that. It will burn more overall calories.

I also suggest light weight training to build lean muscle. Try doing total body combination exercises such as bench press, squats, lunges, deadlift, shoulder press, and bent rows, and calf raises. Just do one set of each with a weight you can lift 8-12 reps. Rest about 45 seconds to 1 minute in between sets. Do it about twice a week. It will help increase your resting metabolic rate and help you burn fat and maintain your weight in conjunction with the cardio you are doing.

Good luck

Start out with around 30 minutes every other day. then on days you are not on treadmill do circuit training with light weights or weight machine. Lot of reps as opposed to lifting max you can lift and few reps.
Where you are do 20 to 25 reps then work up to 30 reps before adding weights. And since you are doing it to get in shape only do one set not the two and three sets you'd do when body building or competition weight lifting.

I would watch your diet...eliminate all the refined sugars...pop etc. And i would do the tredmill for like a half hour to 40 mins. You can walk, run, or jog just keep your heart rate up!
