You need to study a lot more history. Even if Jesus isn't God, he most certainly walked this earth.

Surely you understand that what you believe is YOUR decision, not to be blamed on anyone else?

Catlady, if I can help to clear away some of the christian lies that don't add up to the clear word of scripture, then you may be more confident at heart to believe in the true Messiah! First, the name 'jesus' is a false man made name for a false messiah that the church preaches has done it all for you; all you have to do is just beleive!!! satans teachings! The Bible does not confirm that in any way! The letter 'j'n the English alphabet did not come into existance until the early 16th century, when they were re-translating the Bible from Hebew to Latin; they had trouble translating the Hebrew "Yah" into the greek "i" or the latin "u", thus the "j" came into existance to bridge the gap between languages. Now, the Roman Christian enjoyed worshipping a pantheon of gods, the father of them was named "zeus"! The Roman Christians wanted the Pope to put the name in the Bible so they came up with "jesus" to cover the job! the name "jesus" means "zeus, our salvation"! satans work was effecient! The next thing they did through the work of lying preachers was to teach that 'jesus' was 'god on earth! The true Messiah was born over 2000 years ago, & HE was born a Hebrew; not a greek, nor a roman! HIS name was & is YAHSHUA MESSIAH OUR SAVIOUR!!! The name YAHSHUA means YAHWEH IS OUR SAVIOR!!! cf. Deut 6:4 The Bible clearly states that YAHWEH is ONE!!! HE'S not a duelatilty, nor a trinity!!! Those are pagan beliefs taught from ancient god worship & have no basis for belief in the true worship of YAHWEH!!! YAHSHUA MESSIAH now stands in the office at the right hand os our FATHER YAHWEH as HIGH PRIEST OVER THE HOUSE OF YAHWEH as the first resurrected "man"! HE is not a 'god'!!! Please don't throw out the baby with the bath water just because the christians don't know the truth to preach it!!! Seek out the HOUSE OF YAHWEH!!! There you will find the pillar & the ground of the truth!!! & it will set you free!!!

C.S. Lewis is far from the lamest apologist. His false trichotomy is logical taking the gospels as truth. Being a Christian, he obviously did. Aquinas' proofs for god are lamer, and Pascal's wager is one of my least favorite, but at least with them they are trying. Many Christians don't even do that.

As for Lewis making you not believe in Jesus, how did that happen? He wasn't a historian, he was a writer, lay apologist and a speaker.

Jesus existed because roman historians who didnt even people in God wrote about him, people wistnessed his exist (hundreds of people), even historians today say that there was a man called Jesus, and nobody has been able to prove that he didnt exist.
Now to the part that he was God or not i tell you this, people believe that he was a good teacher, but if he was a good teacher that called himself God then doesnt that make him a liar. Therefore making him not a good teacher in the first place, so do take that into consideration. Also, evolution is a theory not a scientific fact because first it cannot be seen, proven or tested. Evolution doesn't explain the human sex, how there are females and males, and also if we all came from rocks and cells started to create more and more cells then what about the human? What organ came first? The brain? But it cannot function without a heart... The heart? it cannot function without the vains... The muscle? it cannot function without the bones...

It is no ones fault that you do not believe in God... I would suggest that if you want a really good reason to believe... place your hand on your heart and please tell me the scientific reason for it..... that an object that has no mechanical workings can beat and sustain a life. Of course I also believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how useless it may be. But I would suggest going to a Pentecostal Church they will surely make a believer out of you, lol, want proof that God does exist... walk out side. take a breath. look around. No one will ever be ready for the belief in God till they are ready so no I am not preaching at you to believe. But there will come a day that he will be ready for you and he will knock in a very unusual way. and you will be forced to ask for his help... and like it or not he will be there... all you have to do is ask. Trust me.... try loosing a material possession thats remotely important. ask God to lead your fingers..... so what happens.

You believe what you want but I believe that there are a number of extra-Biblical texts that make reference to Jesus...

The historian Josephus [a Jew hired by Romans] I believe makes reference to Jesus... some parts of the writings of Josephus are in dispute...

but when you can take a individual named from several different contempory sources then I think it likely that the person existed.

it isnot C.S. louis fault that you do not believe in God or that Jesus was the son of God...you are just having issues and need to blame them on someone so ...why not blame it on an author of a very good books? Get over yourself they are real and the sooner you admit that to yourself the sooner you can ask for forgiveness

hmm, that's a tuffy.

what you have to know is that a lot of ppl have different opinions and will contradict each other -- next week you could read something that turns what you are thinking now upside down -- there are plenty of ppl that believe in jesus and there are plenty that don't. and that's ok, because it's just important to have tolerance for those that don't necessarily have faith in the same things.

also, if you are having some crisis of faith, speak with a trustworthy adult or someone you know. they'll listen.

How could it possibly be C.S. Lewis' fault that you don't believe in Jesus?

That is your choice, and you are the one who will be held accountable for your own choices.

I was thinking about this earlier. I do kind of believe in God but if he really does exist why doesn't he come down here and lay down the law and tell everyone exactly what they should and shouldn't do. All religions have different beliefs and surely God is the only one who can clear things up!

Well, I'm a christian but I'm not going to try to force you to become one. But, just looking at everything in history, obviously Jesus existed. Look at B.C. and all the changes that happened in history. christianity became the roman empire's official religion. So, there had to be something special about Jesus!
