I think the official position of the church in these and similar instances is that the people were made into jam. Delicious, spreadable jam that goes well with toast or any other kind of bread for that matter. Their spirits were most likely sent to hell because God loves us all so much.

Don't know, I'm not going to BS you with some kind of answer that attempts to feebly explain why. Instead I'd say that I look at Christianity as a personal faith, one that isn't for everyone. I assume that you wouldn't be asking this question unless you had someone you know putting pressure on you to believe. Sorry, we aren't all like that. I can only tell you what I think. I believe that anyone who had never been given the chance to hear about Christ like those that you refered to or like a baby that dies a week after birth, would be taken into Heaven on principle. Hard to answer this question because you will probably get scores of answers that don't really coincide. I think the bigger issue here is, why does there have to be a debate about things like this? I have been a Christian since I was very young and never thought it was right nor understood why so many Christians feel the need to be abrasive and force our faith on others who clearly are not interested. I can't even stand it when someone comes to my door in a suit to tell me about what I should believe. What I believe in is my choice, just as what you believe in is your choice. And lets just leave it at that. That way we all can maintain mutual respect for each other and keep an open mind. Because no one truley knows what happens to us when we die except for those of us who already have.

Romans 1 says we have enough information from nature to know God exists.

A recent study in Japan found that toddlers believe there's a god. That surprised the researchers because Japan's culture is very secular.

I believe people turn against God at a very early age. Influenced by their parents and culture, they do not remember making the decision ( I think they kind of slide into it).

All the more reason to take the message everywhere, quickly!

Missionaries have created many alphabets and have taught many peoples to read so that they could have the Bible in their own languages.

Everyone who has never heard of the gospel has also the willingness to know God. He made us that way. If he have the deep thirst to know God personally, he will provide someway. For instance, one of the muslim believed in Allah but he still felt so empty inside him. One day, someone came to him and gave him a bible. After reading it, he realized that God is love and everyone has a chance to have a personal loving relationship with God and accepted Jesus Christ. Your knowledge or people's knowledge cannot help you know about God. It is by personal loving relationship with him through prayer and reading the bible, being involved in church fellowship. then you will experience how God is working in people's lives and you too. Do you want to havea personal loving relationship with God? He invites you. All you have to do is have an open heart and ask him in.

Good question! This is something I've often wondered about too. If one has never heard of Jesus Christ or of the Christian God, will they still be left behind or worse, sent to Hell for not believing and following the commandments?

God is fair!
Those that had lived in the flesh and had never heard of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, when they (we) die and leave this flesh body they (we) will enter into a new dimension, into a spiritual body...then they will learn of a One and Only True GOD. The Gospel will be proclaimed to them and they will have a chance to accept the teaching of Christ for the same salvation of their soul. (2Cor 5:7-8) To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

this is where the logic of religion breaks down and the ignorance and self delusion takes over.

on the one hand they should be burning in hell right now, but on the other god is good and forgives.

and this is the real problem with religion, the answer to your question is one of two things or both:

it is what the majority of the people think or its what makes you feel good.

People are judged by what they do with the knowledge they have. Honestly, I don't know what became of them. But I do believe the consequence would be far worse for someone who heard about Jesus and rejected him.

Jesus would appear to them right at the right time in the spirit in dreams or however,,before death, and they would have a choice to believe or not.

They learn the christ's gospel in the afterlife and then are given the oppurtunity to accept it.

God loves all of his children and he would never condemn those who never had a chance.
