My biggest problem is realizing that I am mortal - that my life ends when my heart stops; that there is no reward nor punishment awaiting me. I wish there was of course, but I know that there isn't. Also, it's sometimes difficult to accept that I am responsible alone for all my feelings, and for my own happiness. Sometimes that's a heavy burden to bear, especially when I make mistakes or waste the time that I do have on this planet. The upside to atheism tho; is knowing that all the kind and generous things you do in your life are the result of genuine goodness, and not because you want a reward in heaven, or because you fear the wrath of a non-existent God.

People believe you to be immoral if you tell them you are an atheist. It is completely untrue. I, and many of my atheist friends, run charitable events, help people in need, work, love, live a good life, and have, in my opinion, more morality than many people calling themselves Christian's.

Many religious people try to pass off being an atheist as being a religious cult. This is so far from the truth. All being an atheist means (literally ...from Latin form) is a- (without) theist-( belief in a god)

PS
I was a christian all of my life, following blindly. I then read the bible three times. I had to read it three times because I could not believe the discrepencies in it. (How many Christians can even honestly say they have even read the bible once?)
It opened my eyes to what a farse religion is.

To all who ask what I would say on judgement day...(there won't be one, but I will humor you here)...How dare you claim to be a loving god who seeks for all to be saved! You make humankind learning, thinking beings and then give them no evidence of your existance! (By the way...the bible is not proof) Had you loved us so, you would have given us proof and not expected thinking beings to follow blindly.

One meaning of the word god, is judge. I still haven't met a true atheist that just acts and never tries to make a best decision. If one ever exists, which I disbelieve, I think his biggest problem would be rashness.

A Christian, a Buddhist, a Jew they are all atheists to the Atheist.

The inability of the majority to even consider an alternative. It would be one thing if the conversation could happen on an intellectual level - but what I have witnessed is that people who are open to most conversation lose their ability to even comprehend that there are alternatives to blind faith. Reasonable people on all other topics, unwilling to have the discussion and UNABLE to see their unwillingness. Mindboggling.

Learning to keep your mouth shut. Debating someone that does believe in god is a futile endeavor - it's like going back to the Aztec civilization and trying to convince them that the sun is not a god.

People will believe something is true just because they *want* it to be true, and they will not allow facts (or the lack of them) to get in the way.

From a Christian point of view... nothing, as long as you wind up where you want to be in life. Most of the time, Christians depend on God for a little help in life. If you're wildly successful, then obviously you have no need for a God... for now...

Having to deal with holy rollers who are hell bent on saving them when they are happy and well adjusted people. They enjoy dinners out, movies, concerts, theater just like god-fearing people.
