I'm at the point where I can easily change my mind. My goal is to join the Air Force and basically work my way to the top. I want a cool job in the meantime though. Would a degree in physics be a good way to go? If not, are there any better suggestions?

The answer to your question is "yes". A degree with physics as your major is very acceptable in the Air Force. There are many technical jobs that require a background in physics. My suggestion to you is to also study other courses that may help you obtain a very good job in the AF. Learn the computer inside and out. Take math courses. Buy books on electronics and study the basics. If you enter the AF with a broad technical background you will undoubtedly get an important job which will also get you high ratings.

Hell yeah, you can get a degree in anything you want in the AF, and it's aaaaaall paid for it ;) As for a cool job...That's up to you to do the research on Airforce.com and determine what you like, I'd say, pick the top 10 jobs and talk to a recruiter and an advisor off Airforce.com about each job and see what you like.
ALWAYS do research, ALWAYS be prepared, you can never be too prepared, TRUST ME.
