Sadly...no. I was just listening to a Fresh Air segment about the movie Charlie Wilson's War and the book that started it and one of the interesting points they made in the interview with...Charlie Wilson? was that after America helped the mujihideen win against the Russians, we abandoned them. With no guidance from the outside world, they returned to their natural state - fighting each other. Face it...without oil and with seemingly zero interest in promoting tourism to any westerners, they really don't have much else going on. Might as well fight.

Probably not in our lifetime. Too many extremists on both sides have been in the business of war and terror for over 60 years. Their lives are too wrapped up in this conflict. They will never compromise. They will fight and cause terror until they are killed or get everything they want. They will not tolerate any compromise or anyone who does. Look what happened to Sadat. Look at how long the Irish fought. Too many think "All or nothing.

The Zionists are the victims of Muslim terror, for the simple reason that they maintain a Jewish state, and the Arabs cannot bring themselves to live with this fact.

Israel is the only Jewish state in the whole world. The Arabs have 22 states. The Arabs are not willing to accept a Jewish state in their midst.

Israel thought that by leaving Gaza entirely in August 2005, that the Arabs would get their act together and develop their economy. Instead, the Arabs have seen fit to launch thousands of missiles at Israel's civilian population, intending to kill as many citizens as possible.

Israel, on the other hand, is trying to live in peace. When they do attack, it is with the clear objective of silencing the Arab terrorists. By international law, Israel is totally justified in its quest to protect its citizens. The Arabs are in total violation of international law by unprovoked attacking of innocent civilians in Israel.

The Palestinian Arabs could have had a state already, if they only behaved like civilized human beings. But they have proven time and again that they are not ready to behave, and so the Arabs will have to exist with "only" 22 states.

Not until it is a parking lot, unfortunately. Those people will never give up the fighting.
Its not about oil, Its about pride, and loosing face, and a bunch of other not so evolved feelings.

Do I think there WILL be peace? It's impossible to say just yet. I hope and pray that it will come.
