I used to sing really good and belt when I was younger.. I could hit the notes of Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. I was even Eponine for Les Mis during my senior year. I stopped singing once I got out of high school to focus on college.. Now I cant even sing the easiest notes and I feel like I dont even know how to sing anymore.. Its so tragic and frustrating at the same time.. I tried singing O Holy Night and I cant even belt the easy parts.. What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. You've probably just lost touch. I'm sure if you just keep trying, you will be able to sing as you were before!

I'm sure you just need time...vocal chords do change with age, and if you see a vocal coach...they'll be able to figure out the excercises you can do to help. Maybe a trip to a ENT (ears nose and throat dr) could find out if there is something going on. I saw a special on tv a while ago where they removed polyps from vocal chords which restored the man's voice. good luck!

Probably because your voice isn't getting as much use as it was before. Your vocal cords are muscles, and they lose ability just like other muscles do if you don't exercise them. The only way to improve on this is to practice more often and work your way up to the hard stuff, take it easy at first.

The fact that you used the term "belt" concerns me. A "belt" is a chest voice that should be used very, very sparingly if ever.

You should learn to sing in your "head voice" with good breath-support and proper placement.

Find yourself a good vocal instructor. Then practice, practice, practice.

You're just out of practice. Keep working on it. You already have the skill and the talent. You just need to brush up on them.
